I don't know why but I have this idea of Bombshell and Hit List being combined into one show. They have very similar themes as examined in the show (women affected the price of fame and the men that witnessed it). I also have a weird idea that Dimaggio and Jesse would be played by the same actor (Jeremy Jordan). This is all for my personal enjoyment but I figured maybe someone else my be entertained by the idea.

This is my idea for the way songs be arranged/combined/cut. I feel like Act I is probably too long but o well it's just theoretical. (I only wrote limited snip bits of the plot, read the official synopsis' that NBC posted to fill some of the holes)

Act 1
1. Broadway Here I come-Diva
2. Let Me Be Your Star-Amanda/Marilyn
3. Rewrite this Story-Amanda/Jesse
4. Never Give All the heart-Marilyn’s audition
5. Good For You-Amanda’s audition
6. Smash-Amanda/Marilyn talking with agents/Marilyn hired with 20th Century fox, Amanda is turned down for yet another gig
7. Broadway Here I come-Amanda considers suicide
8. The Love I Meant to Say-Jesse stops Amanda from committing suicide
9. 20th Century Fox/Original-Marilyn/Amanda remaking themselves
10. Reach for Me-Diva
11. National Pastime-Marilyn and Ensemble
12. History is made at night-Marilyn and Dimaggio
13. The Love I meant to Say (rep)-Amanda (as Nina) on Radio
14. I heard your voice in a dream-Jesse travelling to LA
15. I never met a wolf-Marilyn
16. Lexington and 52nd St-Dimaggio leaves Marily
17. I’m Not Sorry-Diva/Amanda (as Nina)
18. Caught in a Storm-Jesse

Act 2
1. Cut Print Moving On-Marilyn and Ensemble
2. Calling Out your name-Diva/Jesse
3. Haddonfield (15 years later)-Diva
4. They Just Keep moving the line-Marilyn
5. Good For You-Amanda’s career failing w/o Jesse
6. Heart Shaped Wreckage-Amanda returns to Jesse
7. Let’s Be Bad-Marilyn’s life is falling apart
8. Second Hand White Baby Grand-Marilyn
9. Broadway Here I come (reprise)-Amanda performing as herself and then getting killed by the Diva
10. The Goodbye Song (part 1)-Jesse
11. Second hand (rep)-Marilyn’s death
12. Goodbye Song (part 2)-Dimaggio/Don’t Forget Me

Let me know your thoughts :)

I think its a creative idea, but would be too confusing for people. And quite long. Good thinking though!

It is a very intriguing concept. An old classic story of show-biz gone wrong paired with a new one. Like matt said though, there's just too much in each to include all of both. Each would have too be cut down considerably.

It could even work as a double bill of one acts, seeing that both shows had pretty much fully developed first acts but practically nonexistent second acts. Condense them a bit and shift the climaxes further into the stories and it'd be golden.

And the title? SMASH!

^ Kind of like Sunday in the Park's two act structure. Would love to see that!

I think it would be far more enjoyable to take the best of both, since there's some lousy stuff mixed in. Plus then Marilyn won't be an unsingable role! There could be two female leads, one for each act, and they both could have supporting roles in the act they don't star in.

Pretty off topic but have you heard Jeremy Jordan cover "It's All Coming Back to Me Now"? I mean goddamn, he has never sounded better.
