Could this possibly happen? It's totally different casts, and no one from the OBC is in it, I mean I understand with Matilda coming over to the US and not getting and recording because a majority of the west end cast has come over. Anyways, do you think there will be a west end cast recording of Book Of Mormon?
Probably not. Wouldn't they have done it already? I could see them maybe re-releasing the OBC with some bonus tracks from the OLC, like Jersey Boys did.

Very unlikely - hardly any shows which transfer from Broadway to the West End get a West End cast recording. Same applies for shows going from London to Broadway.
(did Legally Blonde do another recording?)
I agree, it is unlikely. Its a pretty big waste of money if there aren't major differences.

but didn't Les Mis, Phantom, Miss Saigon do a new recording for NY Casts?
Phantom and Miss Saigon didn't.
Dramamama, Legally Blonde did a London recording; I heard it on my Spotify. I believe it is live.
Thanks for the verification.
Off the top of my head, 13 and Million Dollar Quartet also released a London cast recording.
Hm. I wonder what justifies a new recording from a producers perspective.
Follies and Gypsy Did- It seemed to happen a lot more back in the day then it does now, I remember on The site for the London production of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, someone asked if they would make a cast recording and the production staff responded that the London production was very similar to the Australian Production and that there was already a cast recording for that company and that the reason a Broadway Cast Recording was made was because of the many changes in songs.
EDIT: You learn something new every day!
I love the West End recording of Legally Blonde, but that show underwent quite a few changes, most notably "Ireland".
^Actually it played the West End for one week with a cast from the NYMT. A cast recording exists.
Wow, I don't know how I missed that! Thanks...just looked at that recording, even that has very different track listing.
A new cast recording is done during a transfer only when it's a star driven show, like Gypsy, where the songs would be completely differently sung by a famous person. With Book of Mormon, the cast is not and has not always been the thing that brings people to see she show, but the actual material and songs, since the show is pretty much identical on the West End, there doesn't need to be a West End Cast Recording, especially since the two leads are American and don't have much fame in London.
Gavin Creel? Not much fame in London?

The London production of Follies wasn't a transfer, though. It was a revised version done 15 years after the original. That's probably part of the reason it got a recording. And while Gypsy wasn't revised (at least not on the scale Follies was), it was also a good 15 years after the original production (and had a big star). I wouldn't use those two examples as support for why Mormon would be recorded.

Agree no star in West End and the show is virtually the same as Broadway, so why would they do a new cast recording.
