It was a good performance. Bobby Lopez introduced the show, the crowd was very enthusiastic, and the performers all seemed at the top of their game. I thought it was organized very well (the wristbands seemed like a good way to get everyone into the theater quickly) and I really appreciated everyone's efforts to put the whole event together.
thank you to all who organized this event and provided the show for us for free! The event was very well organized. When I joined the line at 10am I was at the corner of 49th and 8th and could see the theater. Probably by 11:30 wrist bands were distributed once you signed the clipboard after you confirmed your identity. It was a beautiful day. No one left the line after they received the wrist bands - with exception to quickly buy food or run to Starbucks to the restroom. At 1:30 as we were told the theater was open and the line began to funnel in. It was general admission and it was great to see not a single incident regarding seating. If there was a gap in a row the ushers quickly found someone to take the seat. I sat in the Orchestra Row N on the left side on the aisle. As previously mentioned the show was recorded and Robert Lopez introduced the show. I wondered if the audience would be more hyper then normal because this was the fan performance but it turned out to be one of the best audiences I have been with in a long long time! Yes they roared with cheers and applause but when it was time to move on the silence was immediate! There was no chomping on food, slurping of drinks, rustling of bags or Playbill pages just an attentive audience who was there to enjoy the show! It was wonderful. I was previously familiar with the CD but when the visuals were layered on top it made it all the more enjoyable! So many times I realized I was grinning from ear to ear because it was just pure fun. What made it even better was that it was absolutely clear that the cast was having a great time. Their happiness and energy jumped from the stage and it was awesome. It was a perfect experience...so much could have gone wrong but nothing did. Thanks to all...producers, cast, ushers, audience...everyone.
It truly was a magnificent day without any major incident. Well planned by all involved. I thought the cast was on and really appreciated the love fest from start to finish. I chose the third row center because I was third in line. Thank you to ALL INVOLVED!!! Was this a first for a Broadway show?
