Hey!! I’m going to NYC in early July, and I have tickets to see several things already, but my dad and I are wondering about our chances with the Book of Mormon in person lottery. Can you still get in the SRO line while waiting for lottery? How many tickets are typically available? How many people typically enter? Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I haven't done it for many years, but when I did it (and got standing tickets twice) you get in the standing line and enter the lottery as well if you want either. If you don't win the lottery you still have your place in the standing line. Or if you don't want standing, just stand with the lottery people.

From memory there was like 25 lottery tickets which were front row and any unsold box seats and then 30 standing spots which are behind the orchestra.

I am talking like 2013 and it was always pretty busy, like at least 100 people. Don't know what it's like anymore.

I did it last summer. The move is definitely to get in the standing room line and then enter the lotto as well. There were about 75 people for a Sunday matinee. I didn't win.

I did it several times last year. The in person lottery tickets are the front center row which is IIRC 14 or 16 seats. So there are 7-10 winners max and there always seem to be 40-50 people there. So I'd guess your chances are 20% give or take. I finally won with the Twitter lottery. If you don't already follow them on twitter, keep an eye out for that.

It’s very easy to win this lottery. Approximately 20-30 people show nowadays.

You can enter and be in SRO. You just can't be in the lobby for any reason while the names are being called.

I've experienced the BoM lottery several times in the past month or so, and while I've been lucky to win a few times, it isn't a guaranteed win (especially now that summer is in full swing).

There are only 14 standard lottery seats available, front row center orchestra. Occasionally they might supplement those with additional seats (typically the box seats), but I only saw that happen once.

Since the SRO tickets are sold from a window outside, you can be in the line while waiting for the names to be called.

Summer does tend to be a busier time for lotto but it’s not impossible. As noted on this thread previous, it’s a standard 14 front row seats plus any additional seating options available (sometimes boxes, sometimes scattered thorough out). Standing room is a great option and a little cheaper, too. Definitely get in standing room line and enter lotto because if you lose lotto then you can get standing room.

How early would you get there to stand in line for SRO tickets, for a Thursday show, 7 pm curtain?
