The Forrest Theatre is needlessly massive. I disagree, I felt like the show fit nicely into the Forrest whereas if it had been in the Academy of Music it would have been swallowed alive. It irks me that shows of smaller nature like Once, Spring Awakening, next to normal among others have had to play to a barn like the Academy of Music and not gone to the Merriam or The Forrest.
I sat all over the Forrest during Mormon's run and never felt like I was too far away, which is a problem I've had numerous times at the Academy of Music. But, back to the topic at hand - I've had friends win the Twitter lotto for both the tour (in Philly) and on Broadway and the locations have varied. The one friend I know who won in Philly ended up in the rear mezz, but I've had friends win on Broadway and get front row, so it depends.
"Anybody that goes to the theater, I think we’re all misfits, so we ended up on stage or in the audience.” --- Patti LuPone.
