Book of Mormon standing room tickets... HELP!

I would like to clear some things up before I just hop on the train to NYC Saturday morning... some help would be greatly appreciated.

1. Are the standing room tickets only sold at sold-out shows? (This was never exactly clarified on their website, so I was hoping maybe I'd have some chance...)
2. How likely is it that a Sat. matinee will sell out now that it's been two years since it opened?
3. Are there any tips for getting these, lottery tickets, or other tickets, or is it all really just luck?

1. Yes. Only when sold out.
2. It's ALWAYS sold out. Always.
3. Get there early, make friends with those around you, don't leave the line for more than 10 or 15 minutes (to use the bathroom, get a drink, etc.) and make sure those around you know what you are doing. Oh, don't try to sneak others into the line with you.

Yes, it's always sold out so standing room tickets are available for all shows. For Saturday there are two shows at 2pm and at 8pm, tickets are sold one hour before and I'd say you should be good 4 hours before BUT if you want to be really sure make it five, I think.

There's no "tip" to getting lotto unless you bring a bunch of friends with you to help and who don't actually want to see the show.

I have a couple of questions:

(1) For the Sunday matinee at 3:00, would it be fairly safe to be in line by 9:00 am?

(2) If I'm with a friend, and we're only getting two tickets total, can we take turns in line so the other can get lunch and such? Or is it expected that we both be there the whole time?

I would suggest just getting off the train and getting in line. I work near there and have seen lines as early as 8:00am.

Also see if you can get standing spots 106, and 107 they are almost dead center. A great place to see the show from.

They are given out randomly -- unless they've changed things, so there's no point in asking. The only thing the box office person cares is 1 or 2.

The spots are all pretty darn good....don't worry about what tickets you get.

They've never been random, in the 20+ times I've done it there. It starts with SR 101 and goes out from there, and then the last tickets start with the section directly behind the rightmost group of seats. (Those are double digits and not triple.)

The best way to be able to get a SRO spot right in the middle is to be 3rd or 4th in line.

Okay, Things must have changed. I have done SRO 10 plus times and asked for those spots on a recommendation from a friend and got them anytime I was first in line.

One more question: where exactly should we start lining up if we're the first ones there? We're taking the first train in the morning and will probably make it to the theatre by 7.

Line up in the space in between the outer box office window and the poster with the cast/creative team on it.

I would just like to thank you all so much for all of your help! I did SRO yesterday, got there by 7:45 and was first in line. The SRO view was perfect and we had a blast. Thanks again!

Glad you enjoyed the show! I hope to do SRO soon! I loved the show when I saw it in July and hope to see it again. I guess I will see a different actress playing Nabulungi.

I don't know if anyone needs to know, but I did standing room last friday and got there at 3:15pm for an 8pm show. We were 5th in line, and more people started coming rapidly at around 3:45pm. They do lottery at 6pm, and then give out standing room tickets at 6:15pm. I know it seems like a long time to wait, but if you bring a book or a friend the time goes by much quicker. We played heads up for an hour to pass time also.

I always forget how summer (and nice days in summer) tends to inflate the SRO crowds. I got there at 11:30 on Sunday for the 3 p.m. matinee and was cut off. Just FYI all!

I'm really surprised that there is that much love for the show. I mean, it was ok, but... I cannot see waiting for hours on end to stand up.

I think for me the weak point is the score. Better they should have gone with Marc Shaiman, who worked so brilliantly with Parker and Stone on the South Park movie.

Maybe I'm just too old!!!
