I simply cannot wait to see Lansbury and Zeta-Jones share the stage! I am willing to do any kind of back-breaking labor they'll require for rush for this.
Feb. 28 - Looped, Feb. 28 - Next to Normal, March 4 - Hair, March 11 - A Little Night Music, March 24 - Time Stands Still, April 6 - La Cage Aux Folles, April 10 - Anyone Can Whistle (City Center), April 10 - Looped, May 9 - Enron, May 15 - A Little Night Music, May 15 - A Behanding In Spokane, May 30 - A Behanding In Spokane, May 30 - A Little Night Music, June 20 - A Little Night Music, June 23 - Red, June 23 - Sondheim on Sondheim, July 13 - A Little Night Music, July 18 - The Grand Manner (Lincoln Center)
Not really a huge fan of Zeta Jones, but to see Lansbury in what might be her final ever performance is too hard to turn down..
That aspect informs the overwhelming majority of my anticipation as well. Angela diehards don't come much more diehard than myself. I still remember when I was 13 lamenting matter-of-factly that I'd missed my chance to see her act on the stage. I've never been happier to be wrong. Almost a decade has passed and I've seen her perform 10 times. :)

Personally,I thought Hannah Waddingham was superb - I was hoping she'd come over.

Well. A Frederick has been found.
Why aren't they announcing the show?
I don't understand how the Chocolate Factory can announce La Cage which doesn't open for a long time, but not announce Night Music!
Oh, my Catherine. I wish I could see it

Wait... "novel idea", you said a Frederick has been found? Anything more you'd like to add (i.e., a name)?
Well somemone on here reported that Frederick had been offered to Peter Gallagher. If the role has indeed been cast, and the person who wrote that was actually a reliable source, that would be my guess. And even though Gallagher is IMO not really right for the role, he would go very well with Zeta-Jones. Plus they really need a "name" for Frederick otherwise the star wattage of Desiree and Madame Armfeldt will make the play unbalanced.
I truly believe they are going to announce the cast after the show closes.
LMAO. I remember two months ago checking Playbill every day, sometimes multiple times, just to see if they'd announce the cast. About a month or so ago I finally gave up.

Hey Rudy.. dont give up yet. Keep checking this week.
And Ragz..I won't say who Frederick is, but it is NOT a name. You would've thought they needed a star to play opposite CSJ, but guess not.
Peter Gallagher was never offered the role. That is a rumor straight from the mill.
I shouldn't even bite the bait, but not a name as in not a Hollywood celebrity or not a name as in nobody we've ever heard of before? I just ask because there's a whole gap of theater people 'names' that falls in between there, and in my interpretation, "not a name" could mean it's someone who's not mainstream, but that the Broadway community certainly knows.

Well that at least gives us a date. Dec 13th.

I had never heard of him, but looking at his impressive resume, he is not completely unknown. I'm sure some people on this board consider him a name, if not a star.
I think those of you with the "I have a complete cast list" and "I know who the Frederick is" but won't share any of this information are complete idiots. Do you think you're special because you know? Cause you're not. Wow, you know that cast before the rest of us. Want a cookie? Share the information or get a life and get off the boards...

- With all due respect, you must have heard a different name for Frederik. There is going to be an uproar when his name in announced. People are going to be upset.

Sorry to disappoint you, but it isn't worth losing my job to tell. I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't post things to boast, I just try to answer questions as best as I can without being too specific.
ljay- While I agree that people will be very upset because he is not a name, he also isn't entirely unknown, and is even a very well respected actor, just not in circles around here (assuming this is the same actor I heard it was recently).
Anastasia- Many are not sharing the information because they are not allowed to, however, preparing you for the shock that is to come might be a good thing.
(assuming this is the same actor I heard it was recently).
- Yup! That certainly sounds like him. I am sure he will be great in the role, but I am prepared for tons and tons of bitching and moaning.
Okay...Really though, why bait people with information? Is it because you want to feel important? My brother works for an important producer in New York and always knows important casting news in advance, and he isn't on web boards bragging about it.
Thank you, Baritone.

Hmmm. He's not respected around here. Is it Orfeh?
I Love You Phyllis..
:))
so, uh, they really are going to wait to announce the cast after the show closes, aren't they?
