Which one would you guys suggest? For Alladin, I feel like it'll be around for awhile so I don't need to this right away unless it's something really special. Although, A Whole New World is one of my favorite Disney songs of all time. For Rocky, I don't know if anyone saw it in Germany but does it work? I could see this being something that is mind blowing or it could just not work. Also I love the movie but don't want the musical to wreck that feeling. For Bridges, I haven't read the book and don't know a ton about it. I read somewhere in the previews thread that the music was a lot like Once. While I did really enjoy a few of the songs in Once, I found it to be pretty dull in general. Is Bridges a lot like Once or is it something totally different. I just like the music to be a little more upbeat sometimes. Any suggestions?
Bridges reminded me a lot of The Light in the Piazza, in terms of music. It was, for the most part and in my humble opinion, extremely beautiful; using a lot of strings in the orchestrations, Kelli's soprano range, ect. However, it is similar to Once in that the plot is extremely simple. It was the kind of show that focused on the characters in their situation as opposed to being a very plot-based musical, if that makes any sense.
I would look on youtube for promo videos, which offer snippets of songs and staging to see which peaks your interest the most.
I'd forget all three and go see AFTER MIDNIGHT. It's reliably wonderful. The others are speculative and hove gotten iced reviews and/or preview threads.
ALADDIN will be, at best, a typical Disney show; ROCKY, even with Flaherty and Ahrens, sounds like a very tired concept; but BRIDGES, with its glorious score and two amazing leads, is the one to see, imo.
So far I've only seen Bridges (obviously) and it's good. Suppose to see Rocky tonight but who knows with this weather. As far as Aladdin is concerned -hmmm. If I had to choose one my gut says Aladdin if you're looking for a traditional musical with a WOW factor. Bridges if you're looking for romantic/drama and Rocky if you're into something 'new' and interesting. I know this doesn't help at all but with the snow I can't help but comment on the message boards!
How is Rocky 'tired'? If anything people are shocked as to how it's going to work as a musical. Seeing it in Getmany I know if you see Rocky you are in for a treat
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna
Appreciate all the help guys! Yfs, I actually already saw After Midnight and loved it! I really hope it gets some recognition at the Tonys. I think im actually gonna chose Rocky believe it or not. Songanddanceman said all I really needed to hear for me to see it and the Bridges comparison to Once makes me not really want to see it. Once was a nice story I guess, but in general I was pretty good. Once again I appreciate the help!
