She has one so-so performance on a TV sitcom and now she's ready for Broadway? Someone is being punked.

Britney Spears the Broadway star? The pop singer, and recently TV guest actress, has been reportedly offered the lead female role in the West End production of "A Streetcar Named Desire."
A source reveals, "Britney's been on the list for this for some time but was considered too risky until recently. Her appearance in the American TV show 'How I Met Your Mother' changed all that. She had poised, timing and real flair."
"We wanted her for Blanche because, even though she's technically too young to play her, who else could embody this fallen Southern Belle so well?"
Spears, 26, recently gave boost to the said sitcom's rating after she successfully played a dorky receptionist. Her performance was a hit among viewers and critics alike.
The source adds, "She's living out the story, so to harness that on stage would be amazing for an audience to see - and cathartic for Britney, too."

West End, not Broadway.
This was posted a few days ago.
Yes, I think it sounds stupid.
Not that this makes the idea any less laughable, but since when is the West End Broadway? It's not a Broadway role just because it's in a play that's been on Broadway.
Regardless, though, I love Streetcar and I hope she stays far, far away from it.

What the-- saying she's a Broadway star on the WEST END?! What are they THINKING?!
She was terrific as the understudy in Ruthless! - but that's when she was 10.
Maybe I'm just being silly, but don't you need to know how to ACT in order be in a Tennessee Williams play?
Ah, but the fact that she has experienced something similar eliminates the need for acting skills? Didn't you see?
Where is my razor?

Smaxie, did you see her in Ruthless? Just curious.
I'm still waiting for the Wei$$lers to put her in Chicago. I feel like it's going to happen soon.
Did anyone else see her go on as man in chair?
...Why should we pay to see as Blanche when we can watch her "embody this fallen Southern Belle so well" on TV and internet gossip sites for free?
Yes. Laura Bundy did about 95% of the performances, but was out for two different weeks during the run to film movies. Britney went on as Tina for one of those weeks. As a young girl, Britney had huge eyes and light brown hair and looked much like a smaller version of Donna English, who played her mother. I recall her singing it well and landing all of the jokes. It was quite similar to Laura's performance, but without the little extra glint of crazy that Laura brought to it. Britney left the production soon thereafter and was replaced by Natalie Hershlag (later Portman). I don't think Natalie ever went on as Tina. A teeny tiny girl named Priscilla Behne was brought in for the other week that Laura was out and then went on to play the role in the Chicago company.
Poor woman, now she must be humiliated by having her play a role for which one obviously needs to be a very well trained stage performer, how old is Blanche supposed to be anyway?
Maybe she could go on for one of the leads in WICKED...ya know, consider that was the show that "changed her life"
"I've always depended on...- Aw damn, ya'll. I forgot mah line"
Wow Smaxie, how many times did you see the show?
Spellingbeefan4ever, when you were reading Smaxie's reply to you, did the Greek Chorus from "Legally Blonde" suddenly materialize and sing "Ohmygod Smaxine put Spellingbee right in his place, I am beginning to like this place..."
Just wondering.

I doubt she can so much as pronounce "Stanislavsky," much less use his method... plus, what about all that southern charm and grace Blanch theoretically at one time possessed? Where is Brit going to find that???
she is country, but country trash

Just how many "Star Search" contestants have gone on to Broadway? (I think Spears competed against Christina Aguilera. Both have hosted SNL, for what it's worth.)
I feel a little sick.
Marty Thomas beat Britney on Star Search I believe
Just how many "Star Search" contestants have gone on to Broadway?
Linda Eder and Sam Harris, for starters.
Britney never competed against Christina, she competed against Marty Thomas and lost, then cried, a lot.
