In the literal 350 years my high school has existed, not a single Broadway performer has graced its halls, at least that I know of. Literally one of the oldest schools in the United States, and not one. I guess we've been too busy churning out doctors, lawyers, scientists, and business moguls, but I digress. The arts just aren't our top priority, sadly.
We do have a few professional regional actors, as well as someone who was rather intimately involved with the creation of The Big Short, Moonlight, and the upcoming Battle of the Sexes, amongst other big Hollywood films. I met him my sophomore year and he was wonderful to talk to—and my friends and I all cheered when we saw him onscreen when Moonlight collected Best Picture.
