A great kid song is "Disneyland" from Smile. I did it recently for an audition. It's lots of fun.
ETA: And good luck!!!!

You're a cutie.
I'd get used to those terms because I'd venture a guess that you'll be hearing them for many years to come. I'm 21 years old and am still "sweetie", "sweetie pie", "honey", "darling", etc. to most. Likewise, I use these terms in regard to many whose ages range from 2 to 30. Embrace it, sweetheart! :) And good luck on your audition! You sound ambitious and persevering. Since you don't want to be coddled and treated like a child, I'm just going to say this: don't get discouraged if nothing comes of it. New York cattle calls are a far cry from community theatre. Just keep those stars in your eyes and don't allow anything to let you lose sight of your dream. :)
Go in with a positive attitude and leave with the same positive attitude, no matter what the result.
Break a leg!
PS: ByMySide, there are some songs on that list that are certainly not overdone and I which I personally don't feel are inappropriate. God, that is the longest list of "what not to do" songs I've ever seen. I think as a general rule, it's best not to over analyzed the piece you choose. There are some songs that are obviously overdone and should be stayed away from, but pushing those aside, if it's a piece that speaks to you and showcases you well, I say go for it!

Posted: 9/16/05 at 5:48pmThe most important thing is that you know the song backwards and forwards. Do not learn a new song for the audition. I can't stress that enough.

ByMySide- you forgot Memory from Cats, probably the most overdone there is.

Penny one of your posts said:
"then if your goog but not good enough...your sent to the sewers."
Do you mean you get a sewer kid? because those kids are all amazing and you'd be really lucky to get that! Best of luck at the audition, remember to just be yourself.
