Posted: 9/15/05 at 8:36pmbut once i did dont rain on my parade a song everyone is told is impossible to sing...but i got in!!! i like changing the song each time though...i like songs that were not sung by kids! it shows off your voice more, especially when your a kid without a kiddy voice.

Don't do Castle on a Cloud. It's a typical child song, and fairly overdone. You seem like such a sweetheart, and I wish you the best of luck! :)
I bet you're amazing!

"Heart" would be great.
Anything from The Secret Garden is good.
Do you know MAck and Mabel? If you can sing "Don't Rain on My Parade" you could probably really wail on "Look What Happened to Mabel".
My final suggestion would be "Home" from the Wiz.
So, my list would be:
"Heart" - Damn Yankees
"Look What Happened to Mabel" - Mack and MAbel
"Home" - The Wiz

Posted: 9/16/05 at 11:33ami wouldn't do "somewhere that's green"...it just seems a little inappropriate for an 11 yr old.

i call everyone honey and darling, even my older friends, so don't worry, you seem quite mature for your age.
Heart and maybesomething from the secret garden like the girl I mean to be would be good choices. What about Cinderella like "In my own little corner" "A lovely night" "ten minutes ago"?

From what I've learned about auditioning for musical theatre, is that you should ALWAYS sing something that is all of these things:
1. Age appropriate.
Never sing anything that doesn't suit your age. If you're a pre-teen or teenage girl, you shouldn't be singing "Rose's Turn" from Gypsy.
2. "Type" appropriate.
If you're pretty, don't sing a song about being ugly. If you're white, don't sing anything from The Wiz or Once on This Island. If you're black however, almost everything is fair game. Don't sing something that isn't sung by your a character of your gender or sing a duet.
3. A song from a show that is NOT currently running on Broadway/Off-Broadway or is NOT currently on a national tour.
No Hairspray, no Wicked etc.
4. Overdone/uninspired/inappropriate songs
Here's a list that my teacher provided:
