Had anybody adopted at Broadway Barks? Can you take home a new friend the same day? How does it work?
I'm excited to go! Hope there's great turnout! It's Saturday from 3:30 - 6:30 in Schubert Alley. If nothing else, it's a great charity event for homeless animals.

Yes, it is a great charity. Animal shelters, rescue groups and adoption agencies all have different policies when it comes to adoption, like background checks and/or references. But most do same day adoptions.
Broadway Barks has a Facebook page, maybe they can give you a more definite answer. Good luck.
Adopt, adopt, adopt! Also, do not over look the seniors! I have rescued two and it is one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had! Your time might be a little shorter with them but the joy and rewards are immeasurable!
I agree with you, SNAFU. Plus, at least my shelter does this, but you can sometimes adopt senior pets for a cheaper fee than the younger animals.
Also, if you don't see an animal you are interested in adopting at the event, keep the rescue in mind to see what else they have. There are lots of pets for adoption in foster homes. Plus, the groups probably can't bring every single animal for adoption because it would be too many.

Usually a rain or shine event, I think they postponed it once due to very stormy weather. That said, a threat of a few showers will definitely not be cause to cancel it.

Yeah, I think the one time it was cancelled there was thunder which would scare the cats and dogs.

Probably too late now, but for future reference if you are renting I would suggest either having a copy of your lease or a letter from your landlord that confirms that pets are allowed in your building if you want to adopt a pet at an event like this. That will speed up the adoption process, since many animals end up in shelters because of landlord/apartment issues.

I had a grand time. Billy Porter talked back to a barking dog -- and it listened. Jane Lynch got licked all over. Andrew Rannells was hilarious; I'm not sure he was trying to be.
I put together a five-minute video. I wouldn't even call it the highlights, since I left so much out. It went on for way more than an hour, with some 50 performers paired with (would-be) pets.

Jane Lynch was holding the kissy poo that I fell in love with at the Humane Society table. As soon as I said she would be great with my cats the volunteer was like Nooooo! She's nervous around cats! They were glad I mentioned that because I was thisclose to filling out the application.
I had heard that Matthew went back to blonde late this week. Still looks fake, but I'm eager to see how it'll look when the natural grows back in.
