Imagine those bad reviews and yet Xanadu remains one of the best reviewed offerings this season so far..
Newspapers reviews good or bad aren't affecting sales at this point that much for Xanadu or any other show except maybe the ones that opened this past month.

Let's not compare reviews please ! I am sure that, for these negative reviews, some XANADU fan can equally provide ecstatic ones ! This will only take up space ! I am sure that there are people who hated the show, but my feeling, by reading the boards, is that, the majority of the people who have seen it, had a GREAT time ! Of course it's not art and i don't think it poses as such ! But if it's a great party, that sends me off with a big smile, it's fine by me and I'll gladly pay for a ticket !

Ummm.
Have you seen Xanadu's numbers?...This year so far they have ranged from 50 to 69% at the smallest house on Broadway...The month pre-strike was worse..so if it isn't the reviews maybe just bad word of mouth as well...?

huh, I thought Blonde was going to do poorly, but not have the
lowest percentage of any musical on the whole board. uh oh.
And Sunday had a great percentage, and yet its avg tix sale was only 55 bucks. So its Grosses were not good at all. I know they only did 5 shows.
What does that tell us? That most of the people who went got their tix off discount sites and or TKTS. Which means that the general public didn't go, but "theater people", which might be the majority of the crowds that show receives.
not a great sign.

Posted: 1/29/08 at 11:30pmthe $55 average for Sunday is due to the reduced subscription price. the majority of these seats (and those for many weeks to come) are used by Roundabout's massive base of subscribers.
