And as predicted Grey Gardens dropped about 10% in its opening week. We should see a post-opening bounce in next weeks numbers.
A pretty bad week overall with lots of double-digit drops. Twyla looks to be in trouble.

Posted: 11/6/06 at 3:36pmWhile Jay Johnson still looks bad, at least he's one of only three shows (Grinch and Lion King being the others) that are actually up this week. Sure, it's less than a percentage point, but still.
re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 11/5/2006#4
Posted: 11/6/06 at 3:39pmYes, but Johnson's actual gross went down. You'd think as abysmal as his numbers are, he'd have nowhere to go but up, however.............

Posted: 11/6/06 at 3:40pmI just want to know who the heck bought that $151 ticket for it. And if they'd like my investment advice.

Posted: 11/6/06 at 3:45pmAvenue Q had a really bad week. It hasn't been in the 60's since 2003 when it first opened.

Mary Poppins went up by $64,000.
Company didn't do too well. Hope it picks up big this week.

Posted: 11/6/06 at 4:02pmThe Little Dog did not do that well as well. But it is the first week.
re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 11/5/2006#9
Posted: 11/6/06 at 4:09pmIt was actually Little Dog's second week (it did six performances the week before). It's not selling well, but neither do most nonmusicals that don't have a star name above the title.

So what, TWS announces it's closing and NOBODY GOES?! Gaaahhh!
That number is NOT good.
re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 11/5/2006#12
Posted: 11/6/06 at 5:14pmWas there any reason the numbers were so bad this week? Halloween a factor?
re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 11/5/2006#13
Posted: 11/6/06 at 5:16pmI think it's obvious that TWS is going to close at a loss. But after seeing the show this week for the first time since previews I have to wonder why the producers don't save SOME money and switch to B&W Playbills?

"What's wrong with RENT?"
Nothing. That show fluxiates so much.

Still, I think it's time for Rent to close.
Will The Producers post a closing notice soon?

Posted: 11/6/06 at 11:35pmAs much as I love the show, I would agree. It's run its course. It's a landmark of the 90s, and now it just seems dated. It should have closed at the 10th Anniversary.

Posted: 11/7/06 at 12:47amRENT has been like that or worse for the past few weeks, that's why I've always wondered what its break even is (it can't be much less than that, otherwise, it will never close. Ever.) Spelling Bee looks the same, but I assume it's a lot cheaper to run.
re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 11/5/2006#21
Posted: 11/7/06 at 3:01amWow, Jay's running costs must be super-low for him to stay open!

What on earth caused such a big drop in Avenue Q last week?
There's a pretty mighty drop for The Times... as well.
Like you guys I begin to doubt whether TWS will make it to it's closing date.

Posted: 11/7/06 at 7:10amLDL is going to be a word of mouth show. It did well at 2nd stage.
re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 11/5/2006#24
Posted: 11/7/06 at 11:09amThose reviews certainly took their toll on Twyla's show... Yikes!
