I'm glad to see that 'Cinderella' is doing well in its final weeks.
Definitely have to "show some respect" to Sting...
Surprised that The Last Ship is so low with Sting in the cast. Yucky week for Chicago, Mamma Mia, and If/Then

^ So low? They made $800,000. That's not "low", and it's 300k more than what they made last week.
I'm saying that I expected a higher jump because Sting is a popular musician and I would expect more people would want to see him perform.

Don't get so excited Neon.....have you checked the Ticketmaster site for future dates? You will be able to shoot deer upstairs..plenty of seats available. Good idea...meh results. No one cares about the show. I wonder why they didn't open it in the UK where it would have been more relevant. The remains of HIV, If/Then and On The Town will soon be found under the sea along with this flop. I think that it is a crime that OTT is not doing better-such a great production. I fear that Broadway will turn into DisneyWay in a few years.
HIV is a highly unfortunate acronym for Honeymoon in Vegas
Last Ship did get a bump, but it's still bringing in only 66% of the potential gross. Enough to get by, but not what anyone would call "impressive" or "hit" numbers, and certainly not what you'd expect a big star to do. Perhaps Sting isn't all that big a sell anymore.
I think I'm actually the target audience for The Last Ship. I love Sting and the Police, and even stayed in my car once I got home to listen to a very long interview with Sting on NPR promoting The Last Ship.
But there is no way I am spending my HEM (hard-earned money) on this show. It seems incredibly bleak and muddled. Don't want that.

While I love the notion of regular HIV puns, I've seen people intentionally going with HinV for that reason.

While I had some issues with the book, I can't say those are the takeaways from The Last Ship by any means.

Mamma Mia is getting a new Rosie & Tanya soon, as Lauren Cohn & Felicia Finley are sadly departing the show on February 1st. I wonder with their poor grosses if they will stunt cast a "name" for either role; I'd imagine of the two, Rosie would be easier to stunt cast.

Honeymoon is encouraging HMIV.
No, Sting isn't a megastar that's helping them sell out. It's a huge improvement, that's all I said.
I’m not sure if Sting’s appearance in “The Last Ship” not selling out the place is a testament to Sting’s star power (or lack thereof) or a testament to the bigger word-of-mouth that “The Last Ship” isn’t doing well. In nearly every press release about Sting joining the show, the article focused on the fact that he was joining to try to save his show that was doing poorly. People who might have normally been interested in seeing Sting in a show might be refraining from buying a ticket for this simply based on the poor word-of-mouth for “The Last Ship” (or, at least, the word-of-mouth that the show isn’t selling well which, in many people’s minds, indicates poor quality). If Sting had been in the show from the beginning, I bet his appearance in the show would have had a greater effect on sales.
That being said, it’s still a significant improvement from last week. And, I think the good word-of-mouth that has been going around about Sting’s performance from this past week may be having a positive effect. At the beginning of last week I was looking at how the house was selling throughout his run and saw most shows still had lots and lots of seats left. I looked again today and, although there are still a significant amount of tickets available, the houses look much more sold than when I was looking last week.
And, Stage Door Sally, I (like haterobics) didn’t find the show to be bleak or muddled and, especially because you are a fan of Sting’s music, I would recommend you checking it out.
Or, perhaps, there's not as much cross-over between hardcore Sting fans and regular (or semi-regular) theatre goers?

Though On the Town's grosses are rather low for the cavernous Lyric Theatre, with an estimated weekly running cost of around 650k, I feel like they made at least a little money every week since opening. I really hope word of mouth picks up after the holidays and they can stick around until the spring.
People are trying really hard to make The Last Ship jumping by $326,000 show that Sting isn't the draw they might have expected...
It's your unfortunate loss, Stagedoor Sally. It is a terrific show.
One note for Last Ship fencesitters, if you are in/close to the city, once it gets within 2 hours of show time, the premiums convert to regular price and take discount codes last i checked, so for $90ish, you can get a very nice seat.

I saw the matinee on Sunday and I have to admit, I really liked it a lot. It has it's flaws, but I thought it was a beautiful show with great music. Sting wasn't the draw for me (I was interested regardless of his involvement and planned on seeing it even before they announced he was stepping in), but it was cool to see him performing in it. He's great and his presence doesn't overshadow the show...no entrance applause, doesn't have the final bow, other actors get just as much cheering, etc.
I will say, I didn't really care for Esper's understudy though.
I'm glad to see that they are getting a bump from Sting, and I hope it continues. I hope I can manage to see it again.

I absolutely loved the music, staging and set. The book is kind of a mess, but i was so happy about the rest of it that I went with it. I would encourage those who are on the fence to take a chance - with or without Sting. There is so much complaining here about the dearth of NEW works - well, here one is!
Are there codes yet for LAST SHIP past 1/10? I want to go the next week, but nothing is posted.
Count me among those who maybe wasn't expecting to love The Last Ship but found it beautiful. I agree too that it has flaws. If anything, I think it's too ambitious. There are so many characters and storylines that certain pieces feel extraneous. But it's so gorgeous and heartfelt and lovely, and it has one of my favorite new scores in quite some time.
The $300K bump is hugely encouraging. I don't suspect it will last past Sting's run in it, but nevertheless, I'm thrilled some more people will be seeing it.

The discount codes have been running through February 1 for a while now. Although Sting did extend past the 10th, if you're trying to see it without him...
