Ouch "mamma mia".... Say it ain't so!
Chicago will have a new Roxie, Velma, Billy Flynn and Mama Morton on January 12, 2013. I will scream if Amra Fay Wright gets another extension. Granted, she's uber talented, but someone else deserves a chance. Come to think of it... I don't think there's been a celebrity Velma in quite some time. Any guesses as to the next Roxie or Billy Flynn? I hope Christine Pedi gets another chance as Mama Morton. She was awesome in her previous run. from RC in Austin, Texas

Hi Bryan. Shows will remain open as long as they are profitable. Shows can be profitable even if they are not in the top 10. Phantom is usually in the top 10, even after 25 years. This week it was not. However, its weekly nut is somewhere north of 600k a week. Therefore, it is still turning a healthy profit week after week. And you can guarantee it will be in the top ten for Christmas and New Year's week, as well as all summer long in 2014.

Its surprising that despite grosses over $1m a week, Betrayal has yet to recoup, I'm sure it will and I imagine an announcement will be either before it closes. Both Richard III/Twelfth Night and No Mans Land/Waiting for Godot will likely recoup as well.
Mamma Mia! is not looking so hot, I fear for it when the holidays are over.

Maybe Mamma Mia just needs a good dose of stunt casting! LOL

They won't close Mamma Mia so soon after the move.
Didn't the movie come out several years ago? If the grosses do not improve, they would close.
Read that sentence again, fingerlakessinger.
