I also cant imagine COMPANY surviving through the summer- even with a Best Revival Tony and/or a Best Actor Tony, its just not appealing to the right types of tourists...

i think theres a certain element of luck in these things and when a Sondheim show with good reviews cant pull in a substantial audience, i cant imagine a few awards will help.

i for one loooved it and hope that with the bare stage and lack of orchestra, the nut is low enough to keep it open at half capacity.

When would it likely close if it makes it through the Tonys?

Unless Company improves, its days may be numbered. Hopefully , it can hang on until the Tony nominations come out

Roxy- Where the hell do you get things from? COMPANY isn't a very expensive show so it can afford to keep on running until the TONYS. It's days aren't numbered yet- it still has at least a month or two left in it that it can run without help from the TONYS.

I love that everyone is trying to give their two cents on when exactly Company will close. The fact of the matter is that no one without inside information really knows, so arguing in circles about if it's going to close before the Tonys/a few days after the Tonys/a week after the Tonys/etc. is going to do nothing. Everyone should get off their ass and see this great show one more time rather than senselessly bickering about closing dates.

I really hope Company makes it through the summer, as Sweeney Todd managed to do. However, Company has consistently pulled in lower numbers than Sweeney did and the nut has to be higher considering the cast size of Company is larger than Sweeney, so one can only hope.

I'm glad PQ is doing well. I like seeing a show survive without getting good reviews. I don't know why.

And I'm sure Company will do fine. If anything, it has better touring potential than Sweeney did/does.

Some of us can't see it at all unless it makes the Tonys (i.e. summer), hence the wondering/hoping.

Well, I was being partly facetious. Hell, I've seen it twice and don't really have any intention of seeing it again. I was more just trying to point out that people who are essentially insisting that they know when the show is going to close based on its numbers are engaging in pointless bickering, as I can't imagine anyone not connected to show really has any way of knowing what the producers are thinking.

No matter what the producers are thinking, you can't keep any show, no matter how low the nut, running at $250,000.
And unfortunately their TONY chances are dwindling as each new show opens.

Crazy, isn't it FutureAladdin?
BEAUTY is beating most new shows, and killing TARZAN.
And it is not because it is closing in three months, look at THE PRODUCER'S numbers.

Crazy, more like insane! That's a perfect example too, Producers is closing in like a week and it's numbers have not been great, but even before Beauty's closing date was announced it was doing great with just a few drops here and there, but every show has that!

If Company couldn't get a boost in grosses for these past two weeks due to spring break, there's very little hope. Even with Tonys nominations, the show will constantly lose money.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

How much longer can JE last with those numbers. And how much longer for Company?

Company is not an expensive show to run, but it isn't the cheapest either.

The truth is, it is in trouble. This year, it has only had 5 weeks where it has turned a profit, and they have been forced to cut back on their marketing budget to conserve costs. This past week was also their weakest for the entire run thus far, a sign that it's future is limited.

I for one think they opened it too soon, but grabbing a theatre nowadays is just as important sadly...
