I'm really surprised that THE VISIT isn't doing better. Great marketing, classic songwriting team, Broadway "star". It looks like Chita's name isn't that much of a draw (anymore, at least). Or at least, it's not a draw to the people who buy full-price tickets.

Fun Home's attendance may have slipped a tiny bit, but it's gross went up. That's the way it's been for the past few weeks hasn't it? Since it started performing on Broadway the gross numbers have pretty much gone up every week as far as I can tell and it's still playing to pretty good capacity. 90% is still pretty good in my book.

I'd like to think that maybe it's a little early to look for Gigi's closing notice. While they are only doing 66% capactiy, they did gain this last week. I'm not saying that it will run for a long time, but maybe until the Tonys. It really does depend on tomorrow though, I guess.

The musical is very dark & is not an easy sell no matter who is in it. Not a big tourist draw This is not a family oriented show.

Roxy is right. They knew this would be an uphill battle. The Broadway transfer really was produced as a labor of love. Granted, I'm sure that the producers would like to make some money, lol.

With all the favourable reports of OTTC I'm surprised this isn't a sellout--any explanations?

I can't see anything turning its fortunes around other than a Chita win. And although it's controversial to mention grosses with the Tonys, I still think if she was playing to capacity houses, she made be able to take a victory lap with the award. But I fear it's this year BRIDGES, and she isn't likely to win.

It's a shame, though, as I may not be able to catch it until June, if it can last that long.

I am so sad to see The Visit struggling so much. Yes, there are many factors on its side including Kander & Ebb and Chita Rivera, but the show is so dark and unconventional that I can't imagine it being an easy sell to tourists. I was in the balcony for the Saturday matinee and it was maybe 10% filled. I couldn't get an idea of how the mezzanine and orchestra were sold, but there was virtually no line waiting for the doors to open at 1:30. I hope it does well with the Tony nominations tomorrow and business picks up. Clearly, this was not mounted in the hopes of it becoming a blockbuster, but I would hate to see it close next month.

It's had a "bad" week because Kristin Chenoweth was out sick for 4/8 performances, so they had a lot of returns. Considering, 86% is still a pretty high capacity for the weekly average, and speaks for how well they normally well. Weekends are usually sold out, and only a few empty seats on weekdays, if at all.

If the show does as well in terms of Tony nominations as many are expecting, including nominations for Best Musical and Actress in a Musical, would they close before June 7, assuming sales do not pick up? Is the cost of running at a loss for the next five weeks offset by the potential of the benefits if it does pick up some award wins? I would think so, but it of course depends on the mettle of the producers.

 Absolutely this. Peter Gallagher is great, but Kristin Chenoweth makes that production. Her performance is just so perfect for the role.
