They're on a limited run through the end of this month, so they weren't even planning to open past the Tonys (though they probably would've extended if it had made sense to do so)
"Say what you want about the quality of the revival, but “American Buffalo” is doing decent numbers for weeks."
It's doing ok, but those paychecks can't be cheap.
I'm actually surprised it isn't doing better than it is. Fishburn, Rockwell, and Criss may not be A-listers to the degree of Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig, but they're still BIG stars by most metrics. And combined?! In the CITS??? I really would've expected it to be a hot ticket event.
I wonder why itisn't. I doubt the recent Mamet backlash blew up enough to seriously hinder sales. I might've said that these actors' fanbases aren't typical theatre-goers, but the same could be said of Daniel Craig, and he's in a much more inaccessible show. Is it just that Plaza Suite and Macbeth are monopolizing the "celebrity play" audience?

It could be doing better but 500k+ for a three person play would be good even if they are making 70-80k a week, which I believe they arent.
They are all famous people, but they are not STARS. Criss’ fanbase is largely musical-oriented, Rockwell is an Oscar winner but sure no A-list (Certainly aint Daniel Craig) cant quite say the appeal of Fishburne.
I think the results are solid.
Actually the numbers for Plaza Suite are something that I didnt knew SJP could do, shes beating James Bond who just had a 800M at BO lol
