The one that sticks out is "On the Town".

With an average ticket price of $67 it's only at filling 59 % of its seats.

I feel so bad for OTT. They had the best tony award performance, besides fun home. I feel they might announce a closing date after this. Also ISBY, did that performance really help that much?

^ What are you talking about? Every show saw their grosses increase with the exception of THE KING AND I which fell a whole $976...

I think the drops for "The King and I", "Fun Home" and "American in Paris" are relative to they are still robust healthy box office grosses.

I know it isn't where it "needs" to be yet, but I'm pretty impressed with the jump for ISBY. I think Lisa Howard was the best performance on the Tonys. Friends of mine who only casually follow and enjoy Broadway shows took interest in that show all of a sudden, and I'm sure it wasn't just them.

Considering NO nominations, it seems to have benefited a lot. Hope it helps them stay through the summer. I thought the show was delightful. (And I also love deep dark shows too.... We CAN have both).

It's hard to call "Fun Home" a decline when it's SRO at 103.3 percent capacity, and "An American in Paris" is at 99 percent capacity, and both actually increased their Gross sales from last week and both had their highest grossing weeks ever.

I think the King and I drop could have been from O'Hara being out all weekend and the refunds given. I was expecting it to be more from the reports of long lines for refunds at the box office.

Her performance was my favorite. I think the testimonial that DHP read before also helped.

Anyone who thinks 400k for a musical is a good number is delusional. I don't care how much they increased from last week, they are not doing well.

Good numbers for Chicago. Brandy is helping to bring in a lot of new theatregoers. I wonder who Duncan Stewart has planned for Roxie, after Brandy.

No one said it's a good number, though it is hardly a bad number for a small musical. No, it isn't a hit. why is there always a negative response to people who have only said something positive? It is so frustrating.

And it also seems the people who trash a show for not making money are the same people asking where to find discount codes and rush policies.

I must say I can't fathom the connection you are making between discussing a show's finances and asking about discounts. It must be based on some bizarre feeling that we should not observe or behave according to the law of supply and demand.

It is not "trashing" a show to note how it is doing (whether well or poorly). Some of us are interested in the numbers, just as some of us are interested in batting averages and ERAs.

How exactly is it that you think talking about a show's numbers creates some obligation to pay full price for tickets to it?

And of course I guess you are also oblivious to the fact that discounting is a way shows try to do better overall financially when they are not mega-hits; but that too requires that you not ignore the law of supply and demand.

This is my first time looking at these types of figures. How can a show have more than 100% of potential gross or seats? (I'm looking at Book of Mormon, for example.) Is that because the potential doesn't include standing room? OR is it something else. Not that it matters; I'm just curious...

OTT may be the next show to drop

It is on TDF for about 17 or 18 dates with a few on other services that shall remain nameless. Unless the producers are willing to put in money to prop it up, it seems to be toast. Sad to say but it is what it is. As we saw with The Visit, good shows are closing prematurely with increasing frequency these days.

Now that Sierra is leaving or has already left ISHBY, how much longer until they post a closing notice. She must have seen the writting on the wall and that is why she joined School of Rock right? Besides being an ALW production, and she is his darling, after all.

I feel sorry for OTT, especially the cast, they have a great show, but no one is going to see it. Have they even been open a year?

Sierra is remaining in School of Rock through the summer, at the earliest. She is only doing School of Rock on Broadway which has a while until it starts. No one is seeing ISBY as a money maker, but they are trying to make it through the summer

Granted, every ripple is greater in a smaller pond, but is Sierra that big a draw for IT SHOULDA BEEN YOU's audience?

Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.

This doesn't even make sense. She is barely even IN this show… she is not the one keeping it afloat. At least not in my opinion.

The producers HAVE been putting money into it. The show hasn't made its nut since January.

I could not be more perplexed by the characterization of the Fish in The Dark box office by all of the sites reporting on it that this box office plummeted. The drop is certainly noticeable. But that gross is very impressive - along the lines of what Curious Incident and Skylight and Kinky Boots are doing. I would think any play producer would be ecstatic to gross over $800,000. Larry David was a freak of nature. But it would seem Jason is proving his worth.
