August Osage County: Very nice, an $83 average...
In the Heights: Yay!
Spring Awakening: Might last a year more, but not much longer (if that)
[title of show]: Yipes...
VERY impressed with Mama Mia!
I'm scared for [title of show].
Well, keep in mind, [title of show] did open this week, and generally shows have a lower gross the week they open.
It should be interesting to see how [title of show] fares with the mostly positive reviews.
Yes, grosses are always down on Opening Week, but the Average Ticket Price doesn't look pretty either.

I think if [tos] gets a really aggressive ad campaign going, with LOADS of quotable quotes, it might survive the tepid first weeks. It definitely has its audience and certainly enough good reviews to make something going out of it. As I recall, the same sort of thing happened with Spring Awakening -- it took a bit for it to start cleaning up. Ditto Jersey Boys. And whoever was in charge of the PR campaign for Passing Strange should be shot -- like the show or not, the reviews (particularly the Times) were mostly VERY positive.

I hope [tos] at least recoups it's investment and then some. I think they have a very aggressive web campaign. I see the add and widgets everywhere; I didn't see any signage around New York, (outside the Schubert alley). I hope they don't rely on the pamphleteers outside of TKTS as their primary marketing strategy.
Aside from that, a very good week!

The Little Mermaid finally surpassed Grease as the highest grossing show of the 07-08 season!
That Passing Strange gross makes me so happy and sad at the same time. Decent week all around though. [title of show] really cannot cost all that much to run, so I doubt it's losing that much money at this point. It's too early for the reviews to have had an effect yet.

Mermaid surpasses Grease. And isn't that a sad comment on the state of things?

I have the feeling that a lot of people, including myself, have either used or are planning to use the $47.50 discount tickets for TOS...that can't be helping the bottom line and the code is good for quite a while.

If it's in your affordable budget, use the code and get the ticket. It's a worthy piece that doesn't deserve to go the way of Passing Strange (not comparing the shows at all). But now is the time to show support or it will die (undeservedly) in the wake of splashy shows not worth the time of anyone's day.
Does A Chorus Line have to close?? It's had strong numbers 6 weeks in a row.
Yes. Has to close. Katie Holmes said so.
Kidding. I love ACL and think it should run forever. Sad to see it go.
I wish it didn't have to close either, even though I have no interest in seeing it again. I feel like it's such a mess of a show now with the recent stunt casting and tweaks. They should recast everyone and start from square one.
they just need to get rid of Mario Lopez. I'm still hoping that somehow his understudy goes on for the final performance.

MungoGypsy8232: Little Mermaid is in a much bigger theater than Grease. BA has 8,576, LF has 12,144. It should gross more every week, just because of the number of seats.
I am happy to see Grease continue to do well.

agree acl2006. i'm really scared to go see the show with mario.. but closing night.. it will be a sobfest. where are your seats?
I think all the bww'ers should introduce themselves to each other :)

Well i'm in row A 103-104.
And for Xanadu at 3 i'm onstage. So don't be a stranger :)
Ouch! [tos] has the least numbers when it comes to ALL the shows!
When I saw the show, the orchestra was not filled up. There are a lot of empty seats on the sides. My TDF ticket is ORCHESTRA last row, but I was able to move around.I have noticed that they close the BALCONY for this show. Its a 3 tier theater~The orchestra & Mezzanine are the only ones that's open for tickets! Sad! bec. its a good show!

I bet Legally Blonde gets the $1 million this week
I saw [tos] on Monday night and the mezz was full. I believe the orchestra was as well. That's a good sign for fans of the show. (I personally didn't like it very much so that means nothing to me.)
