Posted: 8/25/08 at 3:05pmTough week! Most shows down. MAMMA MIA continues to thrive from the film.

Posted: 8/25/08 at 3:08pm[tos] gets another slap in the face. Gypsy could also use a bump.

Posted: 8/25/08 at 3:13pmMaybe the SUNDAY TIMES article will help TOS. What's going on with SPAM? Is Clay back in yet?
re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 8/24#5
Posted: 8/25/08 at 3:14pmIn The Heights made almost a million dollars, I wouldn't worry about anything.

"Maybe the SUNDAY TIMES article will help TOS."
I don't think it will help at all. I think it will have a reverse effect and make people think its even more inside that it really is. Who wants to buy tickets to a simple little musical (not an epic like Coast of Utopia) where you need a "primer" to know what's going on? Not that you do need a "primer", but the article gave that impression.

Posted: 8/25/08 at 3:34pmI was just saying every week they seem to go down a little and I hope they don't keep going down to far. In other words I hope they don't pull a Spring Awakening (Up after Tonys then come down after two months)

[tos]...they went down again. Terrifying.
Legally Blonde is getting pretty low again. Wonder how long it'll last.
re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 8/24#15
Posted: 8/25/08 at 3:44pm$44.89 as the average ticket price for [tos]. Who's paying that much to see it? To think the numbers will drop even more after Labor Day.
re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 8/24#16
Posted: 8/25/08 at 3:45pmI think they need to raise their prices. It seems like they are almost giving away tickets.

"I think they need to raise their prices. It seems like they are almost giving away tickets."
If people aren't willing buy a ticket to a show for $50 (I don't know if that's the price, it's just a number I picked), raising the price of that ticket isn't suddenly going to make them MORE willing to buy it; if anything, it would probably have the opposite effect, especially if they were on the fence about seeing the show. If [tos] can't sell tickets at their current discount, getting rid of that discount isn't going to cause people to suddenly storm the box office for full price tickets.

re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 8/24#18
Posted: 8/25/08 at 4:07pmI don't think the price of the tickets is effecting the attendance, its the lack of popularity that is effecting them. I think many people would be willing to pay a little more for their tickets than 40 bucks. I saw a lot of people at the show who were not just students and could probably pay more.
re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 8/24#19
Posted: 8/25/08 at 4:10pmThe way to find out is to ask those people who really liked [tos] how much they'd be willing to spend on that show.
re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 8/24#20
Posted: 8/25/08 at 4:11pmI know they already made their investment back, but Spring Awakening could use a nice bump these days.

Maybe...if [Title of Show] announced that it is going to close - then people would flock to see the show and it could announce extensions if it were in demand?
It is simple economics - supply and demand. There are plenty of unsold tickets (especially at an inexpensive price) AND there is no demand to exceed the supply of tickets. Announcing the closing would immediately stop the endless supply of tickets and increase the demand!
