I wonder if Wicked, Newsies and Bring It On can all be explained by the fact that a substantial part of their core audiences are teens and 'tweens who are now back in school and not touristing in NYC? I saw Bring It On on Weds night (saw it in LA and wanted to compare) and the teens who I listened to coming out of the show (who I would guess were at least 75% cheerleaders) were just bubbling over with excitement after the show. Kinda like the 50yr old women screaming after Ricky Martin at Evita...
