Hey! For all you NY performers out there - I was just wondering what Gyms you prefer, and why?

For working out or for cruising? re: Broadway/Gyms

This thread isn't very transparent at all.

For cruising, obviously...

Marc Kudish works out at the NYSC on 94th and Broadway...my uncle has seen him there many times. I work out there on weekends in the morning but have yet to see him.

...and pretty much every gym in nyc is good for cruising...

This is kind of freaky... if you think about it.

I work out at Atlantis on 53rd and 7th. If you're looking for a gym near the theatre district, it's a good option. If you're looking to cruise, there's craigslist.

Equinox is fantastic and has the best classes, but it's pricey. Most of my friends go to New York Sports Club, because there's one every three blocks in Manhattan. A lot of them also go to the gym at Manhattan Plaza near 10th ave.

Let me re phrase. I mean for working out. That's a little pathetic to go to a gym to cruise.

I've heard good things about Golds, especially since it has great Equity discounts.

I have two friends who are B'way performers who go to gyms. One has just begun working out and works with a trainer at Mid-City Gym (or something like that...it's on 49th (?) btw. 8th and B'way). The other is a more experienced weightlifter and goes to Steel Gym in Chelsea, which is a fairly serious bodybuilders-type gym. (Look for me there, too, when I am in town!! :) )
