Ok guys sorry if this is a stupid post but I've always wondered how this would play out.
What if people who wanted to be broadway actors and actereses had an outlet to try out in front of judges?
There would be Dancing singing and acting in different phases and people would vote them off and there would be guest judges and so on and so forth. It wouldn't be called broadway idol b/c well american idol has the name but it could be something like that. What the person would win would be a small part in a broadway play or something along those lines.
Would any of yall try out? Just wondering. Sorry for such a dumb post but I always liked the idea of giving a new actor/actressa chance. They have doen it for singing why not acting?
Just a thought. Would yall do it?

We did this a few years ago in the UK, it was called Musicality. And the people who won got parts in Chicago. It was amazing, easily the best programme on TV. Before that, we had Operatunity, finding some undiscovered Opera talent. That also rocked! I do like American Idol (or the UK equivalent The X Factor) but I find the lacklustre songs and singing boring now. I want to hear some amazing Broadway style talent, that's the best afterall!
Ps, Chris to win American Idol!!

We had an opera one in Canada, too. It was called "Bathroom Divas". The winner got to sing with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
What if...we treated Broadway as an artform instead of a buzz-wordy sporting event?
I did, but the blood is starting to trickle down my chin.
Bobby, I'm surprised at you!
An artform? Surely you jest!
Art shmart. Does Megan Hilty come to the stage door? Will she sign my Wicked underwear?
wasn't that the basis for FAME (Debbie Allen's reality show from not too long ago*), if I'm not mistaken, the winner of that show won an ensamble role in the revival of FAME.

According to a BBC News article, Graham Norton will lead "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?," a reality show search to find a Maria for an upcoming West End revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music.
I probobly would. But as for the show, you definatky wouldn't find the best talent out there. If these people really were extreamly talented then they would have already made it on broadway.

about the Maria talent search reality show thing, that sounds pretty cool! it should bring lots of publicity to the show, i just hope they don't get some...tv drama queen as maria
you know what i mean?

Thats's not true, there's a slew of undisscoverd performers in the world who just havn't gotten thier break yet, and this show could be a break for them.
If "Musicality" was a hit in the UK then surely we'll steal it sooner or later and make it better!
C'mon... Weakest Link, Nanny 911, American Idol... heck, even Three's Company started off in the UK.
