Broadway Real Estate 2018-2019 season

It's interesting 2nd Stage hasn't announced anything for the Hayes after Torch Song, especially since their first three Broadway offerings were announced in rapid succession.

I wonder if over time they'll rent out that theater.

DEFINITE SPRING AVAILABILITY:
–– Cort {if the reno isn't happening}
–– Golden {likely King Lear}
–– Kerr {likely Girl from North Country}
–– Helen Hayes {2nd Stage spring play?}

POSSIBLE AVAILABILITY:
–– Hudson
–– Circle in the Square {Hadestown when OOTI closes?}
–– Sondheim
–– Lunt
–– Brooks Atkinson
–– Longacre
–– Jacobs

So we could potentially have 8-9 more productions announced for this season .

FERRYMAN producers are probably hoping to extend if it's as big a hit over here like in London. But it's a big cast (with babies and animals), so if it's NOT doing well here, then I'm sure it will close in February, unless Sonia Friedman wants to tap into her Harry Potter money.

Also the Hirschfeld is likely to be open assuming 1.) Kinky Boots announces a closing and 2.) The Moulin Rouge rumors are true.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

So there's basically nothing available currently for the Spring. Just waiting for some current shows to announce closings(Head Over Heels, Summer, Kinky Boots, Beautiful, Waitress, Once On This Island).

tbh I didn't include it as 'open' because it'll either still have KINKY or will be prepping for MOULIN.

Cort, Kerr, and Helen Hayes are technically open for the spring until they announce their rumored tenants (or, in the Cort's case, renovation). Everything else depends on shows posting their closing notices.

Are we really going to have one musical revival this year?

If there is only one revival, what happens at the Tony's?

Has this ever happened before during a season?

I should’ve been Blac Chyna.

I assume they'll just have a Best Revival category and combine plays and musical. Correct me if I'm wrong but we really only have four play revivals (Torch Song, True West, King Lear, and The Waverly Gallery?)

There’s five. You’re forgetting The Boys in the Band!

If KMK is the only musical revival, they would just make the category “Best Revival,” for the first time since 1993.

From the Tony rules & regulations (2017-18, but probably still the same) —

Revivals. Each year the Tony Awards Administration Committee shall determine whether there shall exist in quality and quantity a sufficient number of Revivals to merit the granting of an Award for Best Revival of a Play or Musical and, if so, the Tony Awards Administration Committee shall also determine whether there shall be a separate Play and Musical Revival category; provided, however, that if there are at least three such plays and three such musicals, there shall automatically be separate Play and Musical Revival categories.

Is there any buzz coming from Secret Garden or Crazy for you? Or should we assume both projects are dead?

Dead for this season, at least.

Was really hoping for Crazy for You this season, but that seems all but impossible given Stroman’s show in Seattle for March/April.
