Hi. I am new to this board and to broadwayworld.com. I am in the UK but will be coming to NYC for a week from 21st June - 28th June 2010 with my partner!! Could anyone tell me what shows will be opening before then and which ones already there would be worth seeing? I've already booked Wicked tickets because my boyfriend is a huge fan of the London production but unlike me has never been to Broadway. Are there some shows I should pre-book before I come or would it be worth waiting till I am there to get them cheaper?? Any advice would be great guys! Mark from the UK :)

Do you mainly want to see musicals or does it not matter?

See HAIR for sure. RAGTIME is excellent as well. I'd say keep an eye out for discounts and buy them online with those just so you definitely have seats before you make the trip. Have fun though!

I would say the only sure things at this point for June are Wicked (which you already have tickets for), Jersey Boys, Phantom, The Lion King, and likely Chicago and Mamma Mia!. Other than that, it's hard to say what will last until then. (Remember Hair will have to survive the replacement of the entire cast...)

If you are into musicals I would have suggested Hair! Hair! Hair! But since you can catch that show in the UK (with the original revival cast) see it there, the show is awesome!

In addition to Wicked, Jersey Boys, Billy Elliot and Next to Normal are popular as well. Probably too soon to tell what will survive the slower winter months so just keep an eye on how things go. (Also too soon to buy discounted tickets) Keep in mind if you are interested in Jersey Boys & Billy Elliot they sell out in advance and you rarely see discounts for those shows (currently anyway).

go to broadway.com and see what strikes you.. if you live in the UK and have easy access to west end theater try to see stuff that isn't open out there

Luv2go - Yes, next to normal is popular right now, but it has dipped a bit. The winter months, especially if the current cast doesn't re-up the contracts and who the replacements (if any) are, could be hard. Don't get me wrong, I love the show. But there are a lot of ifs surrounding the winter months until tourist season hits again to be totally honest.

Tourist season (or, periods during the year when I avoid Time Square like the plague):
1) Mid-November until Mid-January
2) End of May until the End of September
