OH MY GOSH! I'M SO EXCITED! Finally, someone mentions a Broadway performance that I actually saw! I saw Peter Lockyer in Les Mis in the spring of 1997 and Empty Chairs at empty tables sent chills all through me!! I bawled through almost the whole show - it was so powerful and the cast was so fresh and fabulous!
Other songs that give me chills are -
It Don't Make Sense from Parade
The Finale of Tommy
The Circle of Life from Lion King the Musical
I Will Never Leave You from Side Show
In His Eyes from J & H
Lots more!

Posted: 6/21/04 at 1:33amOh the Spring of 1997 was the 10th Anniversary Broadway cast and it was fantastic! I loved that cast so much, they were just so on all the time. So great.

Posted: 6/21/04 at 3:04amBythesword - I saw their 4th or 5th show after re-opening and the intensity was overwhelming. I was 18, just out of high school and on my first and only trip to NY. Phantom and Miss Saigon were so disappointing, that production of Les Mis made my broadway dreams come true! Woo Hoo!!

Posted: 6/21/04 at 3:18amOh you're totally right, I was there for the 10th Anniv performance. Every song they did that night gave me the chills. That whole time period for them was great.

Posted: 6/21/04 at 3:23amI would have to say the "There Is a Fountain/It Don't Make Sense" song from JRB's Parade. Brilliant.

That Old Devil Moon - from Finnigan's Rainbow
Though the only version that stands out is Frank Sinatra's. It's one of those songs that when I hear it, I have to stop whatever I'm doing and just listen.

Well the only one I can really think of that is not a repeat of what every else said is "Anytime" either from Elegies: A Song Cycle or Infinite Joy. Hearing Carolee Carmello or Norm Lewis sing that song totally gives me chills.
