Posted: 6/2/06 at 8:43amI'm going to the taping on Thrusday, got the tickets awhile ago, and am really excited that it's Broadway Week. I also heard that Meryl Streep will be there.

odd choices, in my opinion;
pretty women instead of something featuring patti too
steam heat? its a good number but lacks any of the nominees
no wedding singer?

In case people don't click the link:
Monday, June 5: Tony-nominated star Michael Cerveris performs "Pretty Women" from Best Musical Revival nominee Sweeney Todd with cast member Mark Jacoby.
Tuesday, June 6: Leading Actress nominee LaChanze sings "I'm Here" from The Color Purple, a Best Musical contender.
Wednesday, June 7: Cast members Joyce Chittick, David Eggers and Vince Pesce perform "Steam Heat" from The Pajama Game which vies for Best Musical Revival.
Thursday, June 8: Tony nominees Beth Leavel and Bob Martin offer "As We Stumble Along" from their Best Musical-nominated show The Drowsy Chaperone.
Friday, June 9: 2006 Special Tony Award recipient Sarah Jones gives audiences an excerpt from her one-woman show, Bridge and Tunnel.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Posted: 6/2/06 at 1:17pmYeah, I thought they were weird choices too. Everything but Wedding Singer? Although, Wedding Singer will be on the Today show, so maybe they didnt want to have too many early morning performances that week? At least we get LaChanze singing "I'm Here" - I cannot wait to hear her.

Posted: 6/2/06 at 8:08pmIt is my understanding that Patti has been sick lately, and I have a feeling that the producers are making the wise choice of saving her voice so she can be back to normal health come the actual Tonys. So, with this in mind, Pretty Women is a perfect choice seeing as Patti isn't featured or essential. Though I would have killed to see "A Little Priest" (pun intended), I'll just have to hold out for the Tonys I guess!

I think it's good that they'll be doing numbers that we won't probably see the next Sunday night, allthough I could never get too much of Sutton.
Thanks for the info. I don't normally watch daytime TV, but I'm on vacation next week, with Millie in Newark, and now this, I won't have much time left for all the projects I had planned.

I'm really looking forward to this.
I love Tony season- my Tivo is constantly recording Broadway-related stuff for a few weeks.
Sort-of related: I just saw that Brian Stokes Mitchell is performing on the Today show on Tuesday.
