Those on the westside should definitely go see the shows at Hamilton Music Academy. They have the sets, the costumes, and the talent!!! I'm blown away each and every time. I know it's a bit early but Millie is playing there in May - go see it!!!http://www.hamiltonmusic.org/

Posted: 3/12/05 at 5:30amSeriously, it's amazing, I can't even describe it. You will NOT feel like you are seeing a cheesy high school production. If you need more convincing - one of the girls who went there was on broadway straight out of graduation understudying Sutton in Millie. She's choreographing Millie for them by the way! So, LOTS of talent (and money) in that school.

sounds fun!
i loved the tour when it came to LA... i would love to see another take on the same show!

Posted: 3/12/05 at 5:38amI missed the tour and I obviously wasn't in NY to see her when she went on for Sutton, so I can't wait to see this in May! Wish that she could play the part, but the fact that she's teaching them the actual choreography is cool!

Posted: 3/12/05 at 12:06pmThanks for the post!!! I've seen their plays advertised at 1/2 price at Gold Star Events but always thought...high school. Hmmm... But your post has swayed me. I'd love a chance to see TMM again (having seen the touring company at the Ahmanson last year) so I'll definitely give this upcoming HHS production a look. By the way, how does this school compare with LACHSA (Los Angeles County High School of the Arts), which is on the campus of Cal State L.A., where I teach? I did see their outstanding production of Grease last year, and they're doing Dreamgirls at the Alex Theater in Glendale in June (which I definitely plan to see, never having seen Dreamgirls before.)

Posted: 3/12/05 at 1:41pmeslgr8 - I have never seen a show there. I've only seen shows at Hamilton and I saw West Side Story at Beverly Hills High School a LONG time ago which was OK but not nearly as great as Hami's productions. At Hami I saw No No Nannette, Cabaret, Joseph, How To Succeed, Sweet Charity (with Megan as Charity- she should be on there instead of Applegate!), Fiddler, The Music Man, and a whole bunch more I can't remember. My brother graduated from there early 90's (piano player, not a performer) so I've been going to their shows ever since. The coolest thing I ever saw was when Megan's sister played lead in How to Suceed and they look a lot a like and Megan came out and danced in "paris original" while her sis changed dresses and noone knew they had switched! It was like she twirled off stage and then twirled onstage in a different outfit...sooo cool! Megan told me this is the first school to get the rights to do this, could that be? Maybe because they do it SOOO exact. I remember also seeing A Chorus Line there and then at the Shubert (when it was still here, may that theater RIP, I'm still bitter it's not there)and I liked the Hami's production so much better! Posted: 3/12/05 at 6:14pmooooooooh thanks for the info, popular! i know some people at hamilton and it would be really interesting to see millie with a high school cast. it is the first school i have heard of that is doing millie. since they are a performing arts school, it is very easy for them to get rights. but i will definitely check this out.

Posted: 3/12/05 at 6:46pmThis has nothing to do with the high school in question, but one of my good friends at our school in NJ was a part of the national tour of The Sound of Music five years ago (the one with Barry Williams). She also just made it to the final casting call for Good Vibrations (she wasn't expecting to be cast since she's only 16, but it looks like it's a good thing she wasn't cast with all the negativity surrounding the production).

Posted: 3/12/05 at 7:38pmLightMyCandle- Yeah, as I wrote before, I think Megan was telling me that this is the first school to do the show (probably because of the school's association to her and her success I imagine). They tackle a lot of shows other schools don't touch. Like Cabaret, c'mon, what school does cabaret? And if you know people there you should DEFINITELY go see it!!

Posted: 3/12/05 at 8:00pmyeah... it probably will be one of the first schools. a whie back i was activly searching out shows for my old high school to do, and they werent even sending out perusal scripts. it would be sooo hard to do well, and soo easy to mess up. But with a talented cast - all the tired, sore, and blistered feet would be well worth it.

Posted: 3/12/05 at 9:58pmI still can't believe she was like, 18. She needs to be on Broadway RIGHT NOW! I could see her as Eponine, too bad Les Mis closed. Maybe as a Nessa?

and the Hamilton "past shows" section has some as well... this one is from the cast photo of Charity. You can't really make her out but she's front row third from left in the white shirt

Has anyone seen this site before? If you scroll down to Aug 14th is lists Megan as singing Gimme Gimme at Bryant Park. Is this a site to buy videos of performances? I emailed them so I guess will see. Just curious to know if anyone else has seen this before.
