Good observation about Fisher's Dressing room. I was in several dressing rooms for the Drood company, and this looks similar to the one Wolfe and Mueller share, it's also on the upper floor, which is my only misgiving about my guess. It isn't Chita's, it's not architecturely the same. I didn't see SJB's though, we had talked in the hallway, the door was closed to her room due to her pup.

I was watching the behind the scenes of Ghost and I think Richard Fleeshman said that a shower was installed in the dressing room when Nathan Lane was in the Addams Family, wonder who paid for it? I imagine it was either the producers of the show or Nederlander themselves.

I believe that typically an upgrade to a dressing room, or other physical facilities, like that are paid by the production and not the theatre owners, at least on Broadway. On the road, however, is a different story, as an upgrade or certain demand may be part of the company's rider, and so the road houses may make those upgrades to fulfill said rider. Phantom, and later Lion King, were great for getting some of the older road houses to put in the money to renovations so that they could meet their demands.

Didn't Disney pay for some of the refurbishment costs of the Minskoff when The Lion King moved there? I imagine the big tours of Phantom and Lion King were incentives for theatres across the country to make renovations not only to receive the production but also generally refurbishment to the theatre itself.

I don't know what the star dressing rooms are like at the Sondheim, but shortly after the renovations, I seem to remember that Gina Gershon and John Stamos took the large chorus dressing rooms, and everyone else was jammed into smaller rooms. The biggest problem was that because the ensemble rooms had large bathrooms, most of the rest of the cast ended up sharing one or two small hallway bathrooms.

Or something like that.

If true, it certainly wouldn't be great for company morale...

i'm pretty sure the Lunt's dressing room for the star is as good as it gets for Broadway dressing rooms.


Yes, it is the biggest dressing room in any Broadway theater. In Jackie Hoffman's video blogs she visited Nathan Lane in that room once or twice. HUGE. I believe Bebe Neuwirth's was very big as well.

I'm pretty sure Fisher's dressing room is now Stephanie J. Block's. I saw hers when I was backstage at Drood. It's pretty swank.
