Greetings fellow collectors,
It is that time of the year when I travel from Montreal to New York City to attend the Broadway flea market. Having attended many times in the past, it would be my pleasure again to offer to look out for items on your wish list as well if you are not able to attend this year. You can message me either here or privately for items on your wish list.
This year, I will be checking out the Hadestown, Hamilton, A beautiful noise, Kimberly Akimbo, Phantom, Back to the future,Moulin Rouge Hadestown, and Sweeney Todd tables.
Look forward to hearing from all of you!

Looking at the weather forecast, it looks like it’s going to be great weather the weekend of the flea market. By the way, does anybody know if the Broadway actors still sign playbills after the show or do they just wave and quickly leave. I do collect signed, playbills and wondering if I should stage door or just donate and get a copy at one of the flea market tables.

Last year The New York Theatre Workshop had some RENT-related items. Has anyone head anything about what they may possibly have at their table this year?
Thanks!

The only rent item that I picked up was a beautifully autographed OBC Playbil with the main principle cast signed on the front. I don’t think they realized what they were selling because the price was $20 including the ticket stub inside😂. I believe someone also found the original pamphlet from the New York theater workshop that they handed out before it opened on Broadway somewhere deep in a box!
If anyone is going on Sunday to the flea market, don’t hesitate to reach out to me as we can combine efforts with our mutual wish lists…..

It depends on the actor but I've definitely had Playbills signed recently!
I’m going to be on top of anything related to A STRANGE LOOP and HERE LIES LOVE but also looking for stuff from FAT HAM, AIN’T NO MO, and whatever comes my way

Last year, a strange Loop had many fantastic items at their table, including a $60 bundle including a tote bag, autographed playbill and a Tony voter book which was very impressive. They also had props from the show autographed by the actors at very reasonable prices,. Towards the end of the day I noticed they still had quite a lot left over. I’m sure there will be some for sale this year at one of the tables. Wondering if some of you will be first timers this year at the flea market?

I will be there for the first time! Very curious to find some obscure things from old shows.

Coming in from Ottawa (Close to Montreal!) for the flea. Haven't figured out my game plan yet. Mostly I like props and costumes and other stuff that is hard to get unless you know someone. the tony voter books are pretty cool too.
Thankful I'm not a phantom phan as I expect that will be the crazy busy table this year.

I would advise maybe stopping by the autograph table that they have at the Flea Market. It really depends on the show whether or not they stop.

Oh girl, I know. I was one of the three lucky people who dropped $150 on Usher’s chimes signed by Jaquel (which L. Morgan, James, JAM, and Jason signed at the table, and I got everyone else and MRJ at subsequent shows.)

It varies by show and by actor, even more than it did before the pandemic. But my experience during the summer was that more people were signing than last year! It really does depend. Tf you want the full cast, though, your best bet is still probably Flea because not everyone signs at the door but the companies do make an effort to have everyone sign some playbills/window cards for the event.

Wow. Pricey stuff! Although didn't someone say in the Flea Market thread last year that they had a monkey music box signed by ALW then too? Is this an annual item they make available?
Awesome 20$ find with the RENT Playbill, northlandfan! That's the kind of find that makes it all worthwhile.
....is the atmosphere hectic those first few hours? People pushing to the front of tables and snatching things away?

OH absolutely. People try to push to the front and essentially see what there is, and almost lay claim to it before the tables even open. It's insane. No etiquette or anything. It's like everyone for themselves

I believe the most crowded tables I saw last year, or for Hadestown, and Into the woods. I was lucky enough to pick up an autographed play bill from the original cast, including Sara Bareilles.
It will vary from year to year. Having learned the best deals are always in the afternoon, I plan to just stop by in the afternoon with cash in hand. Yes you can use credit card but I felt I got better deals using cash.

Sad to hear it's such a feeding frenzy, apparently. 'Flea Market' usually means calm browsing and chatting.
Maybe they should do 2 a year - one in the spring and then again in the fall - to meet the demand. That might quell the bloodlust, LOL.

Just putting on people's radar that on Saturday the 30th there is an annual 44th Street Block Association flea market between 9th and 10th avenue from 9am-5pm, I have found some unexpected theater finds amongst the random tables in years past

Hm. Nice thought, but Broadway Cares already does the Bucket Brigade which also brings in a ton of money. So I highly doubt that would ever be something they'd do

Could the rain/flooding possibly cause the Flea to be postponed this year?
I doubt it. I was in theater district last night and didn’t see any flooding on 44/45th streets.

Hey My Broadway Friends!
I am unable to make it to the Flea Market this year. I do have a request. If you find anything RENT please let me know or message me and I will gladly reimburse you.
I'll be there. I missed last year's. Looking forward to seeing what I can find.
And with cancelling, they would only do so if there was an extreme circumstance where the government or cops would tell them no. They have to apply for permits to close down the streets, so it would not be in their best interest to postpone or cancel.
If anyone going would be so kind/generous as to keep their eyes peeled for any unusual/rare (but reasonably priced - say $30 -$40ish or less) Come From Away and/or Hadestown items I would be very grateful! In particular if they have the Hadestown t-shirts with the 2021 September reopening date (size small or medium ideally) and re-opening and/or closing cast signed CFA playbills, and/or the pride one with the longest-running show sticker and/or button. Will gladly reimburse you for whatever it is selling for there plus any shipping cost🙂 (Please do not offer if you are going to significantly upcharge me)
In addition if anyone finds a magnet and/or pin from any of the following:
-Matilda
-Once On This Island
-The Band’s Visit
-Anastasia (pin, have magnet)
-DEH
-Company (2022)
-Waitress
(Trying to collect them from shows I’ve seen that I don’t have them for)
Thanks in advance!
