Broadway in Boston 2006-2007

I'm hoping to bring a little life to this board. ^_^

I saw this post on All That Chat, and I'm getting excited...

"Greetings from Boston... just heard from one of my contacts here in town, who filled me in on some scheduling for the upcoming Broadway in Boston season. Dates and venues are tentative, and other shows are still being negotiated/scheduled, but here's how it looks so far:

All Shook Up, Sept. 26 - Oct. 8, 2006, Opera House
Twelve Angry Men, Nov. 7-19, 2006, Colonial
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Mar. 6-18, 2007, Opera House
Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life, May 1-13, 2007, Colonial
The Light in the Piazza, May 29-June 10, 2007, Colonial

Of course, nothing is set in stone until the official season announcement, coming soon."

Plus, the Herald mentioned a couple weeks ago that Legends! will stop by Boston next spring.

So far, everything looks pretty good.

Can anyone tell me what Legends is? I have not heard of it...
Idina: Somehow I got myself to the stage, came out at the end of the show, and I had some kind of closure.
Some guy: You looked great!
Idina: Thanks...I WAS SO HIGH! 8/21/05

Legends is a play by James Kirkwood which basically tells the story of a producer who wants to get two movie stars together to do a play. The play itself isn't so important compared to what happened behind the scenes.

Mary Martin and Carol Channing were persuaded to play the movie stars and Gary Beach played the producer, but what makes everything "legendary" is the backstage antics that happened from the play's inception and the tour around the country which ultimately did not make it to New York as hoped.

"Diary of a Mad Playwright" is Kirkwood's own account of what happened. A definite must read.

Doubt will also be in Boston this season. I think in November.

The dates for WICKED's return to Boston are on its official site.

I received the brochure for next season this weekend...

Does anyone else here think the prices are getting a bit high for touring venues?

I'll only be seeing LITP this season in Boston as most of the shows are coming to Providence (I live 25 minutes from there, 45 minutes from Boston) as well, but not LITP.

There is no reason to buy a subscription, especially if you're a student. I saw almost every show last season (excluding David Copperfield and the kiddie shows), and the most I paid was $36 for Spamalot.

^It is, which is why any show I see this season with advance tickets (at least for tours) will be in Providence.

NOTE: You have to call the day of opening night to find out the rush policy at PPAC.

re: Broadway in Boston 2006-2007

i think i would be more excited for the shows if i hadn't just saw them on Broadway recently. i'll definitely see Doubt and High Fidelity. the others are only really based upon the availability of my schedule.

does anyone else think "All Shook Up" sounds like it should be the title of a Katherine Heburn review?

¤ok i'll stop...¤
