MTv had LEGALLY BLONDE.

PBS will show COMPANY tonight (or on another day/time for some.)

ABC presents the Premiere Event of A Raisin in the Sun on Monday, February 25 (8-11PM EST) on the ABC Television Network.

Is anyone else excited about all this?

Like all the "real" movies these last few years, do you think we will see more?

I think it's hard to say. MTV taped Legally Blonde because it was the one show currently on Broadway that fit their target demographic, so I don't think we can count on them to be filming any more shows.

I applaud PBS for filming and broadcasting Piazza and Company. It's great for people like me who only get to New York once twice a year and can't see these shows. I know a lot of people will disagree with this, but it would be great if they filmed shows and then maybe released them or broadcasted them after the show closed. That way, they preserve great performances, but don't take any business away from the show.

I remember reading an interview with Laura Bell Bundy about the MTV thing, and she said that so very few actors ever get the chance to own a professional-quality recording of their own show.

PBS has been filming a select few shows every once in a while. The oldest one I know of is the original cast of Into the Woods.

PBS didn't film COMPANY -- a funded production company did the filming. PBS doesn't film any of those Broadway shows -- they simply are an outlet to air them.

PBS did NOT film: INTO THE WOODS, SWEENEY TODD, SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, PASSION, SOUTH PACIFIC IN CONCERT, FOSSE, KISS ME KATE, VICTOR/VICTORIA, PIPPIN, CANDIDE IN CONCERT, SWEENEY TODD IN CONCERT.

LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTER films all those Broadway shows that have aired on PBS as part of their series (LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, CONTACT, TWELTH NIGHT) -- again... PBS only airs them as part of that series and that's where their rights to them ends. This is why LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTER programs aren't released on DVD nor aired numerous times on PBS.

I have a feeling we might see one of the Disney musicals on ABC (ABC Family) sometime in the future.

I'm with you, blaxx: SITPWG.

I think it's great to see all these on TV.

I don't see Disney recording any of their shows for broadcast. If so, they'll probably record Lion King before it closes, when ever that may be. Not likely though.
