Okay, so I am planning my second trip to New York this coming January/February, and I am for sure loading every single day with atleast one Broadway show. That being said, I can't decide which ones to see! I have already seen Wicked, Newsies, The Book of Mormon and Once the first time around. I'm looking for some different stuff.
I was considering:
- Matilda
- Kinky Boots
- Phantom of the Opera
- Caberet
I'm so unsure. Which ones are worth seeing?
Also, are there any ways to acquire tickets far in advance without paying top dollar as seen on Broadway.com? Any and all help is appreciated.
Thanks!
Don't ever buy tickets on Broadway.com, it's a huge rip off. Go to http://www.theatermania.com/broadway/shows/ and click on the shows you're interested, below "buy tickets" it will say "view discounts".
Cabaret is incredible all around, Norm Lewis is killing it as the Phantom (through the end of January) and Billy Porter is still incredible in the always fun Kinky Boots. Enjoy!
Go for Matilda and Cabaret. Two incredible pieces of theatre!

Thanks for the info!
I was also wondering, is it better to wait closer until your trip until you buy your tickets? Do they usually get cheaper closer to the date? How does that work?
I would highly recommend "Matilda", saw it in August and loved it.
Matilda and Cabaret.
NEVER buy tix thru B'way.com. EVER.
PURCHASE THROUGH Telecharge and Ticketmaster. There are still fees, but the only way to avoid that is purchasing tix AT the box office.
The only way you'll see a difference in ticket prices, is if you find a discount code. That to.e of year is notoriously slow, so as long as you are wiping to wait, you should be able to get discounts for all the shows you mention.
From your list, I'd take Phantom off.
Honeymoon in Vegas!!! Buy from tkts!
Cabaret and Matilda are both must sees in my book.
I highly recommend Hiptix or Hiptix Gold for cheaper Cabaret tickets if you're eligible (between 18 and 35).

A show every day for two months?! Yikes... can't you see everything in that amount of time?
While Telecharge/Ticketmaster are the places to get tickets, you'll need to get the discount codes from the aforementioned Theatermania site, and BroadwayBox to use there.
Best bet is to just check in advance which shows are better to buy seats early. Some will release house seats closer to the performance date, but some will let you sort out pretty decent discount seats in advance.
Don't think she'll be here for a month, but sometime in Jan OR Feb.

Ahaha, I should clarify. I mean I'll be going for up to a week either in January OR February, not both! Sorry for the confusion.
But thanks for all the advice everyone! I am from Canada so I have no idea how this all works, and when I was browsing B'way.com I was amazed at how much a pair costs..
Phew.

Matilda is currently the best show on Broadway. It is amazing well loved by most.

I would just take Phantom off your list and see the other three for sure.
All are fine choices - I was not fond of MATILDA but that was because I was one of those people and had one of the Matildas where I did not understand 50% of what she said or sang.
PHANTOM has been around an eternity (I know because I saw the original cast) and Norm Lewis is great.
If you want to see something from THIS season, I would add ON THE TOWN and SIDE SHOW. I would think these shows (if they last through the holidays and we hope they do) would have pretty good seats available at discounts in the slow months of January and February.
Try broadwaybox.com which usually has 50-75% off in advance and you get to pick your seats.
