I was just thinking. With the fact that Duran Duran played a stint at the Barrymore. am I the only one who thinks that if a theatre is dark it can be a great place for a concert.
I mean if you look at it the theatres will make money if the space is being used as a venue when a show is dark.
And, if a band is saying that it is On Broadway it looks good for the band as well.

There really haven't been much. And the last big one was Duran Duran and it really was the only big one in a LONG while.
I do think that they can be considered additional concert venues for when there is no show playing. I mean most of the time there is something like there was with Duran Duran it is usually these musical acts who try to make thier gigs a spectial from the get go.
But, I mean you can easilly put a rock band in a thetre that is dark. Sure you wouldn't be charging typical broadway prices. But, from the owners standpoint they will be makinging something when the theatre isn't housing a show.

I still listen to the recording of Basia's concert. It's great. I too wish I could have been there to see it live.

Lewis Black, Robin Williams and Bill Maher have used broadway theatres in the past.
They were all for thier HBO spcials. Usually the way HBO does thier comedy spcials is that they book a venue for a couple of days and there are usuall two or three regular performances before they tape the speical.
Robin Williams performed at the Broadway theatre, Lewis Black played at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre and Maher played at the Augest Wilson.
