I attempted to vote for these awards and wasn't able to. The page just kept taking me back to the beginning and not saving my votes. I wonder if anyone else had an issue.

Woohoo I voted for Allegiance (and Hamilton too!) Glad there were other likeminded voters!! My fave shows of the season. And American Psycho too!

I get the sense that most of the people who vote don't really attend plays very often, unless they have actors from musicals in them. With the exception of Jessica Lange (who is also a popular TV star) the winners of the play categories are all musical theatre actors. Noises Off won because it was the play that had the most musical theatre actors and was most like a musical itself.

I think that Allegiance won many awards because they were asking their followers on social media for votes. These awards are for fans, and if the Allegiance cast was spreading the word to their fans to vote and other casts were not, I guess it makes sense as to why they won many awards. It's ALL about social media.

The voting period probably coincided with the time when Allegiance was on its last legs on Broadway and its core fan base was doing everything they could to keep it open. Had the voting taken place a month or two later, the results would be far different.

The voting happened in March/April, Allegiance was already closed by then.
