Just watched the Facebook Live, so for anyone interested:
Richard H. Blake thanked the cast, crew and creative team. Then he introduced "the man whose story we get to tell every night," Chazz Palminteri.
CP thanked Menken, Slater, De Niro, Zaks and Trujillo (who was in the audience- none of the others were there). He said 50 years ago on the stoop he never thought this would happen. He dedicated the show to Sonny ("who never got to see me make something of myself"
and his parents, Rosina and "Lorenzo the bus driver."
Unlike most people on this board, I was pleasantly surprised by this show and I'm sad to see it go. But a 20-month run and a tour is nothing to sneeze at.
The video is now able to be viewed here on the A Bronx Tale Facebook page.
I also really enjoyed the show and I didn't expect to considering I knew nothing of the movie/original source material but I ended up really loving it. I went last night for the third and final time on Broadway and will definitely be catching the tour in DC.
Oddly enough, Chazz was not in the show last night [per the Playbill he just did not do Saturday performances] but Joe Barbara was a wonderful Sonny.

If he doesn't do Saturday performances, why would it be odd he wasn't performing on a Saturday?

I saw it last year and found the whole thing to be very "meh". So much of it seemed derivative of other, better musicals. I remember when I chose it as my fill-in show that at least it would have a good score, as I really like Menken's work. But even that did not impress me. And I found it impossible to sympathize with/identify with/ or feel anything but contempt for the character of Sonny --I mean, the first thing he does is murder two people in cold blood. Seems very odd for a Broadway show to give a "Shout out" to a murderer at their final performance. Whatever.

I did not enjoy the show but it had an impressive rub. Far longer than I think pretty much anyone thought it could do.

An impressive rub can make any average show go down a bit easier...

The "show" didn't give a shout out to a murderer, Chazz did. And he didn't give a shout out to him cause he murdered people, he gave him a shout out cause Sonny did everything he could to encourage Chazz to stay out of that life, not become a mobster even though that might have been the easiest path to take given the place and the time in which Chazz grew up and the pull that lifestyle had for kids growing up in that neighborhood. Even a violent mobster can care about those around him and want the best for them even if it means criticizing their own lifestyle and discouraging others from pursuing it. That was an underlying theme throughout the entire story that you appear to have missed. That's why he paid tribute to him.
haterobics - It just seemed odd to me that he’d not be performing the second to last show of the run. I could understand not doing the matinee on a Saturday, but it seemed odd to me to miss the Saturday evening. Also, I believe the website noted he would be doing that performance so the information between the website and the Playbill was off.

I thought it was a great show yesterday, and I will add that Sergio wasn't the only one in the audience. I saw Jerry Zaks, Glenn Slater, Alan Menkin and Bobby Conte Thorton as well.
Sorry it didn't run longer. It really was a good show. I'm sure it will do very well on the road.
