Dont think you will like my review much (posted on another thread) Have tix to see it again on Nov 5th, and maybe I will like it more, but the whole Paradice/Brooklyn "showdown" really killed it for me. I thought that part of the story was very "high-school" musical and unnecessary. (as uncaged said as well). Its funny... so many people complained that Eden does not have enough solos (which she doesnt) and then someone says they can definitely see a Tony win. I am telling you... trust me (and I love Eden (think shes a sweetheart and very talented), but this is not a Tony winning performance. If Tonya Pinkins did not win for "Caroline", Eden is certainly not winning for "Brooklyn". Would love to see it, but aint happening.
Do you think this show will get a good run? It seems an unlikely candidate with such a small cast and unknowns. Before everyone cites Ave Q as an example, they do have a gimmick with the puppets. While I wish Brooklyn well, it seems an unlikely for success to me.
Testing, I agree with you. I think this show will do very well but won't nab a lot of Tony's. But then again, you never know. Look at The Tony's this past year. My jaw is still dropped! I didn't want to voice my full opinion on the show until it opened in NY. I did so in another thread today. The only Tony I can see them getting for sure may be for costumes. They are probably the most inventive costumes I have seen.
The had three different shirts... DW got the baby tee, which was white with grey sleeves, and the heart logo in the middle. I bought the blue t with the heart logo in the middle. They also had a grey t, that just said Bklyn the musical on the front (no logo) They also had a hat that matched the blue t, and magnets, and they were taking presales for the CD. Oh, and the show poster. The had the cart outside selling merchandise before the show, which was cool.
