1. Ashley Brown is leaving?
2. Who is Brynn O'Malley?
3. If she is a nobody, what would have "inspired" this casting choice?

Which newcomers' careers has Disney launched exactly?
Susan Egan created Belle in BEAUTY & THE BEAST and then went on to replace in several productions, often in roles that won Tony Awards for other actresses.
Heather Headley created Nala, then went onto create Aida, won a Tony, and never showed up on Broadway again.
Josh Strickland has been MIA since TARZAN.

"Josh Strickland has been MIA since TARZAN. "
He's been doing readings and was just featured on Scott Alan's new album. Certainly not completely MIA.

Saw her as Amalia in Arena Stage's production of, "She Loves Me". She gave a wonderfully sung and acted performance.
I also saw her as Amber in Hairspray, and she was one of my favorites in the role.

Agreed.
I really loved her as Amber.
Her and Ashley Spencer are best.

To elaborate what I was going to say before my laptop crashed on me, I do not agree. Can't picture her as Mary Poppins.
Is this "inspired" casting real or hypothetical?

"Is this fact?"
Doubtful, since Brown is not leaving until at least November. I can't imagine they've booked a replacement 9 months ahead.

Posted: 2/20/08 at 1:27amI personally think Brynn would be great as Mary Poppins...I saw her in Meet Me In St. Louis at the Paper Mill and thought she was wonderful! I also saw her in Hairspray, which I believe she did a great job with that role! :)

Exactly? Sierra Boggess and Ashley Brown. I don't think they will be waiting tables after their respective Disney shows.

Brynn is PHENOMINAL. some of her work can be found here:
http://brynn-omalley.tripod.com
it lists her resume and has a bunch of pictures
I saw her in Meet Me In St. Louis, Hairspray and Sunday and CAN picture her as Mary Poppins. She'd be great

My good friend Meg Osterhaus has been Ashley's U/S since the show opened and she goes on alot.
I can't imagine the team skipping over Meg when Ashley leaves. Meg deserves the role.

Posted: 5/14/08 at 3:31pmMy problem with Meg Osterhaus is that she does not look like a Mary Poppins. I'm all for Brynn O'Malley!

Posted: 5/14/08 at 3:58pmCatherine Walker goes on a lot as well (almost equal to Osterhaus if not more)...I'd think it would go to her over Osterhaus. If I remember correctly, Walker is technically the first understudy...but both actresses are great and I wouldn't be surprised if one of them got promoted...they'd both deserve it.

WBAF - shush! Brynn is a fabulous performer and so talented. she is not a "newcomer"
Josh Strickland has moved to a ranch in Colorado and is working as a farmhand. he also has been skiing a lot. it was a PERSONAL choice to leave Broadway... he'll get a job when he moves back.
don't just assume those people can't get jobs anymore... that's obnoxious.

"MARY POPPINS sucks a**!"
If you really think that, why bother posting in this thread and not even back up such a harsh statement?

It wasn't meant in a negative way.
"...sucks a**!" is a quite positive description. To some, at least.
