this year i’m attending the bway flea market for the first time and I was wondering if anyone could offer helpful tips or info on how the whole thing works? I have an entire plan set out but I don’t know if that’s a foolish thing to follow
Swing by during the later hours / when most shows are in progress (around 3-7 PM). There are more manageable crowds, and prices tend to drop on remaining collectibles and memorabilia.
I've been going to Flea Market pretty much annually for a long time and these are my biggest tips:
* Get there earlier than the 10am start time. By 10am it will likely be super crowded [although with them finally going back to closing all of 44th Street hopefully it will be much more bearable]. I usually get there around 9:30am and just walk around kind of getting the lay of the land. Some times tables will sell things prior to the 10am start, so you can definitely keep your eyes and ears open for that.
* Be mindful of your space - As mentioned, it can get a little crowded, so just be mindful of yourself and your stuff you have with you.
* Stay hyrdated/Take breaks - Flea Market is one of my favorite days of the year, but it can also be A LOT. I like to make a lap or two around and then dip out for lunch around 12:30-1ish. But, listen to whatever your body is saying and [Eliza Hamilton voice] take a break! Have a bottle of water with you since depending on the weather for the day, it can get pretty hot.
* I tend to skip seeing a show so I can be around for the later in the day deals when the tables are closing up. Last year I got a signed Maybe Happy Ending poster for $25 when it had been much more early on the in the day. The end of day deals can be really fun and I've definitely gotten some of my favorite things then.
* Bring a tote bag or reuseable bag with you as not all the tables are willing to offer them. I am a tote bag gay so I LOVE a tote bag and usually end up buying at least one during the day. The Broadway Cares table usually has a cute resuable bag which I got last year, if nothing else.
* Cash is preferred and quicker, but the tables do have card readers and can take cards. I usually bring some cash and then use my card here and there as well.
* Have a great time! As I mentioned - it's truly one of my favorite days of the year and you never know who you may run into on the street or at a table.
I'm going for the first time this year! Flying all the way out because I got FOMO seeing all the Oh, Mary! stuff, so I'm REALLY hoping to get the goods from there. I've been wanting to go for literally years. Hope this year is a good one!

I plan on going as well, but would like to buy items at many of the tables, but obviously can’t be everywhere all at once. Please let me know either here or by private message what tables you will be at, and maybe we can combine forces for items. We are desperately searching for.
Thanks!
I have been about 5 times. I also suggest checking booths later. I got a cool eyeglass case and candle with show logos on them for dirt cheap about half hour before they shut down. The candle was in a glass holder so I still use it with tea candles. Also found a few other small things. Have fun!
