Bye Bye Birdie with Lindsay Lohan!

Posted: 5/8/04 at 7:39pmHey, all. I was out today with some friends of my mother's and one of them told me that she read in the paper an article about a Bye Bye Birdie film remake with Lindsay Lohan as Kim. There was news about an updated film version a while ago, and I'm not sure if this is official, but I hope so. Lohan is a great actress and a fine singer, from what I've heard. With some improvement, she'll be wonderful as Kim, if this project ever comes through. What do we think?

Worst musical ever written? How about "Christine"? I thought that pretty much sucked.
Whatever happened to the planned Broadway revival?

Posted: 5/9/04 at 12:19amI'd be suprised if they would do another film remake of Birdie. No way would it be in the theaters. I enjoyed Jason Alexander in the remake years ago. I think he deserves more credit as a performer.

Posted: 5/9/04 at 12:26amWell, if it starring Lindsay Lohan, then it'll definitely be in theaters. Hopefully, they can get other stars to be in it. Since Patrick Swayze was considered for the Encores production, why not put him in the movie?

Lohan in Birdie - I'm there. She was great in Freaky Friday and Mean Girls looks oh so cute. She can sing pretty well too, see FF.
I have heard rumblings about a Birdie film remake as well. Some drama about possibly updating to the present or something? Sounds fishy to me (the updating that is).
I think that Birdie is a cute, cute musical. It was one of the first to introduce "pop/rock"-ish music to the B'way scene. I think the score nicely integrates the Conrad numbers with more traditional musical theatre tunes. It plays well as a valentine to those days of innocence gone by.

Posted: 5/9/04 at 4:01amI like Lindsay a lot and I would much see her in something like this as to Hilary Duff (shutter). However, maybe its because I dont like this musical to begin with that I don't even really want to know what its going to be like. I wish they would make a movie of something else.....I dont know what exactly, but as long as it wasnt BBB I wouldnt mind.

I'm not a fan of the stage musical either, but it was a very engaging film musical in the 60s with Ann-Margret as Kim (still her best film performance in my opinion). I agree the remake with Jason and Vanessa Williams was horrendous, but with Lindsay Lohan as Kim it could be terrific again. Lohan is a true talent with charisma and looks, and she can sing up a storm. (In "Mean Girls" she even looks quite a bit like Ann-Margret.)
I hope this isn't just a rumor but a full-fledged project. I am so there. Now how about J.Lo as Rosie? Just kidding, sort of--I like J.Lo. And what about P. Diddy as Albert? Hey, now we're getting somewhere.

Am I the only one who liked the remake?
Haha- I thought it had marvelous performers and was more true to the musical version than the original movie, but I have to admit- Anne Margaret is the best Kim ever. I can see Lindsay taking on this role- I think she is really defining herself as an actress with all these recent movies (Mean Girls is the story of my highschool- Great movie!) and will be someday be an Academy Award Winner. Her voice is decent and would be able to handle the "Kim" songs" in the show. I'm all for a remake! This show is so much fun!

I actually agree with Jennifer Lopez as Rose. She's about the age, gorgeous, has a beautiful voice, and can dance(for "Spanish Rose"/"Shriner's Ballet"). The cast is shaping up well, it seems. ![]()
Albert: Patrick Swayze
Rosie: Jennifer Lopez
Kim: Lindsay Lohan
Conrad: Some sort of popstar....JC Chasez?

Posted: 5/9/04 at 10:19amHow about Doris Roberts for the role of Mama?
#17re: Bye Bye Birdie with Lindsay Lohan!
Posted: 5/9/04 at 10:22amHaha---perfect. She was a hoot in the production this weekend...And she'd definitely bring in names, besides giving others the chance to view her wonderful performance.

Posted: 5/9/04 at 1:31pmHey, maybe she's going to be in the Kennedy Center's production that will be heading to broadway? you never know. The Kennedy Center is great at attracting some big name stars to be in their shows. I havent heard of any birdie remakes on film anytime soon but it would be a nice musical but it has to be released to the theatres and not direct to TV as ABC (who's done the previous musicals)has done in the past.

Posted: 5/9/04 at 1:52pmLohan as mentioned that she is a big Ann-Margret fan, so that would most likely be very exciting for her to take on the role. :) I think it's a good part for her.

I can pictures Lindsay with the high perky ponytail bouncing around and passing out infront of Conrad haha.
Conrad should be Clay Aiken. Haha- That would be hilarious.

Posted: 5/9/04 at 2:01pmI love Lindsay, she is literally one of the best teenage talents Hollywood has had in a LONG time. I would LOVE to see her in BIRDIE. Even though her film before Mean Girls (Confessions of a teenage Drama Queen) sucked royally, she made it completely bareable.

Actually, Clay would make an adorable Hugo....maybe?

#23re: Bye Bye Birdie with Lindsay Lohan!
Posted: 5/9/04 at 6:06pmHe would be an excellent Hugo- Hugo is so annoying.
#24re: Bye Bye Birdie with Lindsay Lohan!
Posted: 5/9/04 at 11:26pmClay Aiken as Hugo is an inspired idea! Aiken and Lohan together would be heaven on earth. With J.Lo as Rosie and Roberts as Mae, great. But no Swayze, please, please, please.
