I just saw the movie Camp a couple days ago and LOVED IT!! Was wondering what anyone thought of the concept and what was the reaction to Stephen Sondheim being in the movie?
I thought it was sweet-I especially loved the montage with "I'm still here"--the ending 20 minutes was a little awkward and not totally connected to the first part-or so i thought--but i loved "here's who I am"
I loved stephen's cameo!
LOVED IT!! My very good friend played Michael, Robin De Jesus.
that character was SOOOOOOOO FANTASTIC!! LOVED HIM!!!!

Placed up there on the WORST 10 Movies I have ever seen...possibly ranking in the WORST 5....the only decent parts were "Here's Who I Am", the Dreamgirls Sequence, and the Follies Sequence Updated On: 2/29/04 at 02:41 PM

If movies on your worst movies ever seen list have good parts to them, you clearly havent seen enough movies.

I was disappointed in it. The script was a mess. It had such talent and appealing performers, but the script and direction hampered them. It was yet another film where a gay character never has a romantic and/or sexual relationship with another gay character. The movie started off strong, but lost steam along way until the painfully protracted ending. The performers deserved much better than they got.

Great premise and characters, but it was very weak in my opinion. It could have been darker and dramtic, ala FAME, that's what I thought it was going into it. But they sugar coated it making it PG-13 for all to view.
I felt it was a little too mtv, meets lizzie maguire. It should've been darker. It started to touch that surface with Michael's plotline, and even the beginning I thought I hit gold, but it nevertheless sold out to the younger audiences, as did Center Stage.
Even through all the negativity I still appreciated it for what it was.

Who said anything about good...I said decent.
I enjoyed the movie. Except the last part DISGUSTED me. That Vlad kid has like 50 things going on with different girls...and even tries to kiss Michael, and actually admits 'I just did it to make you happy.' And then Ellen agrees to go back with him, and when Michael protests, she turns to him and says 'No offense Michael, but sooner or later I'm going to have to start hanging out with guys who don't wear dresses.' That's the most disgsting thing I've ever heard in a movie. The script was poorly written, and the actors and characters were repulsive and obnoxious. The only good parts of the movie were the show scenes.
i saw the movie friday night. i thought it was good.vlad was hot.
i also saw it on friday night. i thought it was a entertaining movie for people who love theater. i liked the dreamgrils part with the lttle boy. and whos that a picture of your father?

I loved camp. I thought it was so good. it was a clear response to stagedoor manor, and thats what i loved about it. half that stuff actually happened.
I thought it was a very fun movie right up to the end - then, as usual - a hollywood sellout ending. of course he's not allowed to be actually gay. That ruined the movie for me and I had such high hopes from the trailers and the first half of the film - some really brilliant moments... I wonder what Stephen Sondheim thought of it after seeing the finished production.
I think the movie was an embarassment for people who attend Stagedoor.
How would you know StateofJade? Did you go to Stagedoor? Practically all of the camp loved it. I don't know how close it is to Stagedoor TODAY, but then again, the man who wrote based it on his experiences which was a while back. I personally thought the movie was very good, and I go to Stagedoor.
Yes, I do go there. And I'm embarassed by that movie.

Well if Stagedoor Manor is as crappy a camp as that was than I suggest students save their money.
I dont waste my money on crap movies like that.
i thought it was fine for what it was. i can't say that i was entertained all thoughout the movie, but certain scenes when they did shows were funny. OMG here's where i stand, that heffa betta sing. somehow turkey lurkey time had a special place in my heart as wells the company scene when ole girl poisened the otha one. dat was da bomb. now that my ghetto mentre has ended, overall worth my free ticket.
will
Umm... here's the deal: its entertaining, the musical numbers are fun and its GREAT to see camp on screen. Its not really like camp, i went there for 8 years. The similarities are the passion that the kids have for the theater and the way that by the end of the summer your calling stagedoor (or camp ovation) your second home. Its not exactly like camp... but its entertaining and HILARIOUS when you compare fact to fiction: 2 people in one room? HA! Never! 3 people in one show!? SIKE. and doing Company or Follies.... NO SIREE.

Vince Rimoldi (Spritzer) should have been featured more and the ending should not have copped out..
Vince had a much larger part, but unfortunately got left out. One of his big scenes is on the dvd under deleted scenes.
