I'm going to be in the city on the 23rd and wanted to stay over for a night. The problem is that the hotel has to have a room with 2 double beds bc there are 4 people in my family. I wanted to find a room in the theater district for like under $250 a night. Where can I find one? My mom doesn't want to stay in a hostel so those are out of the question.

Thanks for your help (and yes I searched but all the threads were from a while back)

coolkid, ever heard of fantastic sites such as google.com or hotels.com or travelocity.com or priceline.com or expedia.com. They are so amazing! And have hotels actually listed on them! It's a pretty new concept so you know I can see where you wouldn't know about it!

Good Luck!

Go to www.quikbook.com --I found great rooms for $185 a night
recently. Of course you can also try www.hotels.com. Also, its not in the theatre district, but look up the Pod Hotel. They have rooms with two double beds (and even four bunkbeds!). The rooms a cool--modern--clean and the prices are very low (note that some rooms only have shared bath) Best of luck.

The cast of ReNt offers people the chance to stay with them in their apartments, but I see it's all booked up that weekend. Pity, it's only $50 a night and includes 2 tickets to see the show.

I'm assuming you've already checked hotels.com expedia and all those others, so I know what you're going through. Not too many years ago I was able to book The Edison or The BW President for around $99 to $119 (plus tax), but that seems like ancient history now. Any how, The Ed and The Pres should be around the $250 level now, rooms are tiny but nice, and you can't beat location.
Also, be sure to check the coffee shop at the Edison.

Check the Hotel St James. It ain't the Ritz, but it's clean, quirky and under $200 per night.

I always use pricelines name your own price option since i never have a preference and everytime we've gotten decent places...some of the times the rooms are the size of closets but they are clean with their own bathrooms and the only thing we do is shower and sleep there so that's all we need.

good luck

Never mind. Hotwire has really nothing. $249 is the cheapest.

Try the Herald Square Hotel. Not right in the theater district, but pretty close. You can sometimes get double rooms for $99/night.

I like to use aaa.com to search for rooms. Under their triptik option you can plug in a particular address and it'll show you hotels that are in the area and what their price ranges are.

You can also search by address using expedia, hotels.com. etc. I prefer to check aaa.com because it's an actual map and you can physically see the distances. On expedia et al they just give you distances that aren't always accurate.

For example, I used expedia.com to get a hotel in SF. I plugged in the address of AT&T Park and found a hotel that said it was two miles away. Then using Choice Hotels Sports travel option I got a room for $77/night. While the price was good but it was further away than expedia had claimed. As was the hotel in SD that we booked using expedia.

When I was planning a trip to Cleveland I used aaa.com and ended up right across the street from the ballpark.

Now, not all the hotels in the area will be listed on aaa.com because not every hotel is affiliated with aaa. If I find a hotel on expedia that I like but can't find on aaa I'll just plug in the address and see how far away it is from whatever it is I want to be near.

Also, I like to check the hotels site because expedia et al are not always the cheapest option. They add on their own fees while the hotel doesn't have those extra fees.

Try the Super 8 in times square they are usually around 180 a night the place is really clean and surprisingly nice for a Super 8. You could also try the Econolodge it is right next to the theatre that Forbidden Broadway plays at (sorry I am drawing a blank on the theatre name and street) They are both usually reasonable and right in the heart of Broadway! Enjoy your trip!
