I would caution people to go into this show cold, not knowing the story or the score.  It makes for a surprising and enjoyable experience!

I'm going to be honest....I'm not impressed.  I can't get further than two songs in...it just sounds very "hey gang, let's put on a show" to me.

I'm not sure there's a real standout. It seems to be as much of an "ensemble score" as an "ensemble show" if that is a thing. With that being said, I particularly like Costume Party, Screech In (captures the show so well), and obviously Me and the Sky.

 

Interested to hear other thoughts on this.

Not every show is for everyone...but when you don't have the context, sometimes it's tough. I would recommend seeing the show (as others have said) without listening; or maybe reading "The Day the World Came to Town." 

Also remember, since the show is 12 people and the band...it's very intimate and everyone is a part of almost everything, so I can see how your impression is...but it's definitely not how the show plays out, imho. The show is touching and lovely, and even though it's set just over 15 years ago...it's extremely timely.

I love them all but "Me and the Sky" and "Screech In" stand out.

Somewhere in the Middle of Nowhere. Can't get through it without crying but also smiling. Love it. Really looking forward to seeing this show, and I'm glad I have listened to it before going. Now I'll know when to have extra tissues ready.

I'm obsessed with Welcome to the Rock! I haven't listened to the rest of the album so that I'm surprised when I see it next week
