I recorded the Today show with my DVR and just got a chacne to catch CRY-BABY's performance from the this morning. Did anybody else see it? It was great. "A Little Upset" is really an awesome number! That choreography is just incredible. I hope it gives the show some help. It really is so much fun. It reminded me how much I enjoyed it. I thought they did a great job with trimming the number down as well. The cuts flowed nicely. I hope this show walks away with the Tony Award for Choreography.
And this is to see what people think of the performance on the Today show this morning. Don't use this thread an excuse to bash the show itself. If you dont like it we already know. Thanks.

Yes. They should make an album. I like every show to make an album. Even the ones I dont care for. This happens to be one I like but albums are really the only way to document a show and keep some sort of imprint of what was on stage. They are how we keep music theatre history alive. So I hope they do make one. I still am upset that Lestat never realised an album
I've never seen Cry-Baby, but I did enjoy the performance.

Just a little upset, or really upset?
The chorography is amazing... even if the show isn't. I personally enjoyed that number.
My min prblem with every clip I see of the show is that James Snyder feels miscast. He just doesn't scream sexy rockabilly good-badboy to me.
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofuI agree that James Snyder doesn't really seem to fit his role. Good singer though.
It's definitely one of the best numbers from the show and I love Ashford's choreography!
The clip is up on the Today show website by the way.
Thanks I'm gonna watch it now.
EDIT: Whoa. Shut me up about James Snyder. At least in this song. I like how no one laughs when he can't finish the sentence, like in all the clips. Interesting song. I could see myself watching this show, but not when tickets are that much and there's so many others to see. This choreography is fantastic though. Ew though, Elizabeth Stanley. Now I remember why I changed my mind about wanting to see this. She's annoying as hell.
I can not imagine trying to perform in this heat. Good for them.

I'm excited to see this on the Tonys. I thought the CryBaby number (Screw Loose) was the high point of the Visa Tony preview concert.
Wow. I thought they did a really good job. This is definitely the best number in the show, and that ensemble sold it well! James Snyder is still incredibly bland though...
I agree. That preview concert was not the best songs IMO.

I think "Screw Loose" is the best song in the show. And that Alli Mauzey (and Harriet Harris) are the only people in the cast who know how to camp it up enough to John Waters' levels.
I think Alli Mauzey is appearing on Regis and Kelly this week. I still can't believe that Aziza chick from Passing Strange got a Tony nomination over Alli. Go figure.
I have had zero interest in this show, but have to admit the number really took off. In comparison to the Today performances of YF, it looked like West Side Story. Some fresh ideas, and the song was damned catchy.

Anyone have a link to either this or the Visa Preview Concert?
The today show performance is on the nbc website.

That was pretty good...they're definitely going to sell a few tickets with that performance on Tony night...but not enough, if you catch my drift.
SongAndDance - You're in the UK. Your bootlegs don't count.
Musicalmaster - You're not funny!
I liked it alot!

I was nervous about listening to this after all the bad mouthing on here but I must say I listened to the first song on the concept album and I am hooked. Absolutely wonderful.
As a Broadway fan, it intrigued me to see it (but I don't live in NYC). Okay, the promotional art made me interested in seeing it. However, I don't know if this number as a whole would have made me choose it over many of the other shows out there.
I would want a cast recording, though.
