Posted: 12/18/14 at 9:09pmDid they tour the 1998 production? I'm curious about the set-up for the national tour. Would they only choose theaters that can copy the set up of Studio 54 with the tables and such, or would they just put it in regular theaters and lose that element?

Posted: 12/18/14 at 9:17pmMost theatres presented the 1998 revival tour of CABARET in a regular proscenium stage set-up though they fully had on stage the entire scaffolding set (with the 2 spiraling staircases and the raised orchestra/band). It looked as if they literally took the entire Studio 54 set and placed it on stage. It still worked but it definitely lost that intimacy you experience at Studio 54.

It will either go to the Ahmanson or Pantages here in L.A. but I'm guessing the Ahmanson since the last Roundabout show Anything Goes went there.
I know the Mark Taper Forum would be the most intimate but I highly doubt a BIG show like Cabaret will go there.

Posted: 12/22/14 at 1:53pmWhen it first played Los Angeles, it played the Wilshire Theatre, but the last time I saw a tour there was URINETOWN. I'm assuming either the Ahmanson or somewhere very left field.

Posted: 12/22/14 at 8:25pmI would cry of excitement if Alan Cumming would tour.. I mean I already kind of did when they announced the tour alone... haha. Don't judge me.

Collect a Limited Edition Piece from Broadway's Cabaret, before Alan leaves. This is based off the original paintings. Proceeds benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
