Audra would crush as DOLLY, I think we are beyond an all Afro American cast but I do think Queen Latifah would kill as Horace.
Seeing Kad's remark about Audra and the pregnancy clause was probably the funniest thing I've read this year!!! Let's give Kad a round of applause for that one.
Having said that, with Audra and Queen..., they could definitely carry this show, send it in a new direction (ala Pearl Bailey), as well as sell tickets. And let's face it...selling tickets is what it's all about!
Happy New Year to all (and Kad you slay!)
ps. Remember, frigid winds and temps means bring in any animal companions from outside this week. Happy Happy!
Maybe I'm nuts but I would love to see Billy Porter as Dolly. The sex would definitely be in the Harmonia Gardens meal.

And the show would close at the end of the week. In no place but this board would Sheryl Lee Ralph see enough tickets to last to Thursday, let alone Sunday matinee.
^I think that's why they started their post with "It's not gonna happen."

You're not nuts because I would love to see Porter as Dolly too!!
Riedel has made it no secret that he's friends with Rudin (in the NYPost, on Theater Talk and in his book). So either (a) this has real legitimacy, or (b) they're trying to use Audra's name to throw people off from who the real replacement is.
Audra can do no wrong in my books, I don't personally see her as Dolly but I am sure she would be remarkable. I personally wouldn't work for Rudin after the bs he put her through last year, blaming the closing on her pregnancy.
Audra just tweeted a meme this morning saying "Don't believe everything you read on the Internet." I'd wager she's referring to this, though it could be something else.
After watching Bernadette on the Carol Burnett special last night, I don't think the show is going to last long enough to make it to Audra.
I would love to see Audra in this production. That being said, Scott Rudin has kept a tight ship regarding publicity surrounding this production. I highly doubt he's feeding information to Michael Riedel.
I'd still like to see Vanessa Williams as Dolly.
For those saying that they don't "see" Audra as Dolly --
I don't disagree. But, then, most people couldn't see Audra as Billie Holiday, either. And we know how THAT turned out....
Suffice it to say that I'm buying a ticket, if & when said casting is announced.
After seeing Audra in Shuffle Along proved that she can do anything...Bring it on, Hello, Audra!
