Please take a moment to learn about the NYC return of “bare”! This show is going up for a two week limited engagement in Manhattan. It is the original version of the show, you know where Nadia is fat and there is a Sister Chantelle! While we actually love all versions of the show, this is the one we have chosen because of it covers a great span of issues.

I am playing Jason in this production. It's my second time playing this role. The first time I played it, I got the courage to come out of the closet. So this show is very important to me. So I am turning to the Community to help make this show happen. I hoping that it's run in NYC will help others find the same courage the show gave me. It will also help the shelter provide much needed support to those LGBT Youth in need.

We are in a small venue for one weekend currently.
If we raise the money . . . Two week run in a bigger venue. The show is happening, but we want to make it bigger!!!

Posted: 4/7/13 at 4:41pmMy qualm is that is not the original. The original was the LA version. It needed help and got some. Then there was the 2004 Off-Broadway, which is my favorite. Then this version is the 2007 ConceptCast Album version, which has some very unfortunate lyric changes.

Posted: 4/7/13 at 11:55pm^Agreed. And honestly, the 2004 Off-Broadway version underwent too much tinkering from the New York producers who were trying to make it more like Rent. In spite of the lyrics, the concept album version is still the best, in my opinion.

June 6th-9th and 13th-16th are the dates if they get the funds to extend. If not, I believe, the only shows will be on the second weekend.
So I hope that will motivate people to donate. This is such a great show, but more importantly the more shows we do then the more money we can donate to Trinity Place Shelter. This foundation needs help to provide the homeless LGBTQ youth with a safe place to go. Not everyones families accept these kids for who they are. So Trinity is giving them the support that their families may have denied them. They give them shelter and the tools to get on their feet and to start living a happy and supported life.
This cause means a lot to me and so many. I hope the musical theatre community will pull through for these kids.
In happier news - Our cast had it's read through yesterday. My fellow cast mates BLEW ME AWAY! Everyone is so passionate and informed about the show. Their were quite a few tears flowing yesterday because this show hits home for so many of us.
In reference to the variations on the show. I love them all. They are each their own unique creations that are trying to tell the same story but to different audiences. That's why everyone has their favorite because they don't like something about another version that someone does. Every new version that comes along just adds more fans who relate to a different version. Remember kids "God Don't Make No Trash"
